Hal Jordan intercepts a distress signal that takes him to an Earth-like planet where a volcano erupts. Hal saves the natives and takes them to their tribe, where the chief thanks him for protecting them "again," which confuses him because Hal never visited that planet. He then helps them a second time by saving some fruit trees from the lava, and on his return, he finds the tribe offering him a throne and some jewels. It turns out they mistaken him with another Green Lantern, named Dalor, who arrives and tells Hal that he is in Sector 2813 instead of 2814. Dalor explains that the tribe's offerings are his payments for his services, something that baffles Hal. Unamused, Hal demands Dalor to accompany him to his spatial base. In Hal's place, Dalor proceeds to explain that, ever since he got the ring a few months ago, every planet he saved recompensed him somehow, which he thought was the norm with Green Lanterns. Again, Hal snaps and decides to warn the Guardians. However, they receive another distress signal from the planet. Dalor stops Hal and rushes first to attend to the emergency, but he falls unconscious, just like the rest of the tribe, due to a yellow cloud of sulfur. Hal fans out the gas and saves the natives, except for the chief, who died by intoxication. Hal snaps at the irresponsibility of Dalor when the projection of a Guardian appears in front of them, saying that they'll judge the one responsible.
