Spider-Man and Black Cat have broken into a hotel room and made love. As Felicia sleeps Peter laments that they don't talk afterwards not about Diablo, not about breaking into Dexter Bennett's house, not about finding a corpse made of stone or about their 'relationship' as her twirls Felicia's hair around his fingers. Peter worries about getting very close to Felicia without the mask on and how much it scares him especially with her potentially seeing his unmasked face even though the room was pitch black, the shades were 'enough to keep out July', that Felicia promised not to look, the element of trust even the one between him and Black Cat is hard to come by. Peter tries to ask Felicia about the events of the last issue but talking isn't Felicia's thing and she whispers to Peter for him to wait until morning and then they can 'play grown up' before going back to sleep. Despite this, for reasons that Peter is afraid to consider he is totally okay with that, even though Peter knows Felicia and himself are defiantly not playing grown up. As Peter sleeps Felicia disappears. A newly wedded couple comes into their room out of nowhere. Spidey is jolted awake and barely gets out with his costume on. Spider-Man notes as he swings through the city, laughing to himself, that it was the best night of sleep he's had for a month and doesn't feel an ounce of guilt about it. Peter returns to his apartment glad that there are no 'crazy ladies' waiting for him at his apartment as the smile on his face takes a few hours to fade with Peter noting that Michele would have surely 'popped a vessel' for sure if she ever saw the smile on his face. Spidey then tracks down Dexter Bennett at the Daily Bugle, showing him an image of the dead guy who was lying in his safe. Bennett confesses that the man is Bernie Mayer, a former business partner of his that he had a falling out with many years ago. Spidey also notices the newspaper article with him and Cat sharing a kiss on the front page. Spidey then makes a stakeout at Mayer's warehouse. Black Cats's bad luck powers alerts him to Cat's presence. Black Cat says she thought his spider sense only went off when danger was present, Spidey says when he squashed a fist full of rat shit while his underwear ripped he knew Felicia was nearby. Spidey tries asking Black Cat about the ledger book she stole from Bennett but Felicia ignores his questions and gets intimate with him until Spider-Man hears a ringer. Down below, Diablo uses his science to erase peoples minds. Then suddenly, Spider-Man crashes right through the glass window and slams into him. As Black Cat assists him, Diablo uses one of his capsules to liquefy the cement beneath their feet. Spider-Man manages to tear himself from the ground and smash the solid cement against a pipe. However, Diablo unleashes a gold-like substance that slowly encases Black Cat and Spider-Man and cutting off their air. As he tries leaving, Black Cat's bad luck powers kick in and one of his capsules falls from Diablo's belt and dissolves the substance freeing Spider-Man and Black Cat. Spidey then flings web balls at him before trying CPR on Cat with Spidey noting that's the first time he's slipped in the tongue doing CPR. Cat says Spidey can do some 'chest compressions' if he wants but the wall crawler says they should capture Diablo first, Black Cat then calls Spider a spoilsport. Diablo then escapes in a cloud of smoke. Back at the Daily Bugle, Spidey realizes that Mayer had 20,000 tons of steel but refused to disclose it's origin to Bennett. But that steel was made by Diablo and not meant to last. Already there is a building made of that steel. Cat then asks Spidey if he trusts her, for there are parts of the puzzle that she has to solve alone. He asks if she kept the lights off and did not look at his unmasked face; she replies no. Spidey says that he trusts her and Black Cat leaves to solve her mystery and thanks the Wall Crawler before mentioning to get as much webbing that he can spin. Soon enough Cat informs Spidey of the building, which he covers entirely in his webbing and the building is evacuated by the fire brigade. J Jonah Jameson tries to get into the people's good books while this happen, until Spidey knocks off his hat with a web ball. He then rejoins Cat on a rooftop, where he informs her that Diablo killed Mayer and was after Bennett and the building's collapse was meant to hide something and Diablo would have received a hefty insurance payout due to all the many small businesses that were secretly owned by Diablo in the building. The problem is though, what was he trying to cover up. Black Cat and Spider-man then discuss the events of last night and agree to a no-strings attached relationship before sharing a passionate kiss with Black Cat mentioning to Spidey to keep his mask on this time. Spider then says with a smile on his face that he 'is in so much trouble'. In Diablo's lair, he listens to the news report where Mayor Jameson has taken credit for evacuating the building before the building collapsed much to his fury. Then, Ana Kravinoff enters, stating that her mother would like a word with him.
