The Suicide Squad is in northern Qurac waiting for the agents that will help them get inside Jihad's base, Jotunheim. Suddenly, one of Jihad's members, Chimera, teleports in the midst of the Squad. Flag quickly reassures his teammates that Chimera is their agent, who turns out to be Nightshade working undercover. Nightshade slaps Flag, angry at him for not warning her about Jihad's demonstration that had killed hundreds of people and thus making her an accessory to a massacre. Flag listens to her tirade impassively, then tells her that her role is essential for taking down Jihad and that they need to get a move on. Flag gives his teammates their assignments: Nightshade will teleport them in, and Briscoe will attack the compound with Sheba as a diversion, signaling them to start. Plastique is to destroy the lab to prevent Jihad from creating new members. Deadshot will target Manticore; Enchantress will take out Djinn; Captain Boomerang will get Jaculi; and Bronze Tiger will get Ravan. Flag will be responsible for going after Rustam, taken by Nightshade to her quarters to ambush him, since Rustam will likely go to "Chimera" first for her teleportation powers in order to evacuate the base as soon as he is alerted to the attack. Nightshade will go after Marlo. Additionally, Nightshade's partner inside Jotunheim will disable the base's generators. Nightshade uses her teleportation powers to distribute the Squad members throughout Jotunheim. Mindboggler is tasked with distracting the troops outside their barracks. In her quarters, Nightshade apologizes to Flag for her outburst earlier, but he forgives her, understanding what it's like to deal with working undercover. Nightshade confesses her internal confict about betraying Jihad because she has begun to seen them as people, not just targets. Flag assures her that her empathy is a good thing. Plastique decides to betray the Squad as she confronts Mushtaq and offers herself to join the Jihad, revealing the Squad's attack. But Mushtaq trains his gun on Plastique and reveals himself to be Nemesis, Nightshade's partner. The real Mushtaq died in a firefight three months ago. Plastique makes a run, forcing Nemesis to chase after her and abandon his plans to sabotage the generators before Plastique can derail the entire mission. The attack soon commences with Briscoe bringing Sheba to fire on Jotunheim. Mindboggler uses her powers to attack Jihad's forces as they emerge from the barracks. Bronze Tiger battles Ravan. Deadshot shoots the cable holding up the elevator, dropping it on Manticore at the bottom of the shaft. Manticore survives the attack by barrelling upwards through the floor of the elevator and onto its roof. Nightshade teleports into Marlo's suite, but Plastique stops her from apprehending Marlo with an explosive shot to the back. Despite her assurances, Marlo flees, and Plastique is herself shot with a tranquilizer by Nemesis. Flag battles Rustam, but is interrupted by a call from Nemesis that Plastique has betrayed them and Nightshade is out of commission, meaning that the Squad won't be able to rely on her powers to escape from the fortress. Rustam escapes. Captain Boomerang kills Jaculi by dropping him off the side of the compound. Bronze Tiger breaks Ravan's back but does not kill him; Ravan swears revenge. Deadshot kills Manticore by shooting him in the face. Enchantress destroys the machine that gives Djinn his powers. Enchantress turns back into June Moone, who is weak and disoriented. Bronze Tiger finds her and helps her to their new point of exit. Because Flag had failed to eliminate Rustam, he sneaks up on Mindboggler and shoots her in the back. Captain Boomerang had Rustam in sight and could have saved Mindboggler, but deliberately let her die because he was jaded about her intervention when he was sexually harassing Plastique. The Squad coalesce at a hanger inside the facility, where there is a jet waiting. Nemesis arrives, carrying an unconscious Plastique. Nightshade is conscious but too weak to teleport. Captain Boomerang lies and says that he saw Mindboggler die but was too late to save her. Colonel Flag can fly the jet, but the catapult to launch it must be activated from the hangar. Nemesis offers to do it. The Squad successfully makes their escape, with Nemesis being rescued by Briscoe in the Sheba. Rustam and Marlo watch them go as the former swears that Jihad will be rebuilt, and they will find out and destroy the perpetrators who did this.
