The recovery of third-party encapsulation and grading expenditures when an asset is acquired at a discount below the physical cost of replacement grading fees, shipping, and insurance.
Scott Free is rushed to the emergency room after he slits his wrists in an attempt to escape the final trap: Death. While in recovery, Scott is visited by Orion, who proceeds to "teach" Scott by repeatedly punching him in the face. Once Big Barda rebuffs Orion, Scott notices that Barda's eyes are brown opposed to their normal shade of blue (to which she ignores). Scott visits a talk show hosted by G. Gordon Godfrey who asks Scott about his motives in "escaping death" and if he truly succeeded in performing the "stunt", to which Scott confusingly responds with "What?". After the interview, Scott converses with Highfather, who alerts Scott of the conflict brewing on New Genesis after Darkseid's apparent success in acquiring Anti-Life Equation. Scott's perception of reality is implied to be somewhat tainted, as the phrase "Darkseid Is" begins to flood his mind and people seem to be warped or distorted. Aspects of the DC Universe seem to be altered such as the New Gods physical appearances, Barda's eye color, Darkseid still being in power on Apokolips, and Scott and Barda still being together after the events of Darkseid War. A bizarre joke about a student drawing "the true face of god" is mentioned by Scott and then Oberon, who is revealed to be dead by Barda after Scott states that he had a conversation with him. Scott finally receives a message on his Mother Box from Orion, who notifies him of Highfather's death and the mobilization of the New Genesis troops. As Scott and Barda enter a Boom Tube, Scott expresses his awareness that something is wrong with reality and that he can't escape this. Barda proceeds to smack him and tells him to stand (reminiscent of Orion's treatment earlier) and they "enter the next trap".

Official witnessed creator-signed slabs (Yellow label). Valued based on creator historical stature and inscription provenance.
Certified specimens from landmark historical collections (Edgar Church / Mile High, White Mountain, Kansas City, Pacific Coast).

Certified printing oddities (missing foil, inverted interior, double covers, foil color error). Unique curiosity pieces.
Advance promotional black-and-white booklets, ashcans created to secure trademark rights, and preview giveaways.
Each cover variant, retailer incentive, and subsequent printing represents an independent atomic tradeable instrument with unique supply elasticity, barcode registration, and secondary market demand.
Foreign editions (licensed through Panini, Urban Comics, Editorial Novaro, Novedades, Otto Simon, etc.) represent physical tradeable instruments in international secondary markets. Geographic scarcity and currency differentials drive global cross-border arbitrage.

Wolfman recounts he and Len Wein meeting Jack Kirby almost a half a decade prior.
“I can show you how I might have done it, Steel Hand)-- I might have hidden hyper-sound intensifiers in my gloves to break the metal chains! See what sound waves do to your steel hand! Perhaps I used miniature retro-jets to blast free of the missile! And a compact cocoon spinner-- which turns out yards of plastic material at fantastic speeds-- It may have made a chute for me-- But it will wrap you up in a package-- For the law! As for beating you to your office-- Like the lowly squid-- I might have used air jets-- To shoot myself across the city-- Come in, officers! He's all yours! The charge is homicide!”
