Comics grow darker and more socially aware. Wolverine, Punisher, Swamp Thing debut. Creator-driven storytelling emerges.
Newsstand variants carry meaningful scarcity premiums. First appearances from this era are blue-chip investments.
In illiquid alternative asset markets, sovereign blue-chip holdings trade at an exponential multiple over mid-grade float due to institutional accumulation and inelastic seller reservation prices.
Ka-Zar, Zabu, and Paul are thrown into danger when a volcanic geyser erupts beneath the lake and prehistoric beasts attack. After surviving the creatures, they reach an island where they encounter two communities descended from German and English sailors whose ships were wrecked there during World War II. Though the war ended long ago, their children have been raised to keep fighting. Ka-Zar meets Heida, who recognizes his peaceful nature, but soon discovers that the rival leaders, Draco and Captain Christopher, are still fueling the feud. The leaders’ scheme goes beyond keeping the war alive: they plan to trigger a volcanic eruption with a bomb, destroying the island rather than lose control. Ka-Zar escapes captivity, reunites with Zabu, and tries to make the young fighters understand that they are dying for a hatred handed down by their fathers. As the volcano threatens to erupt, the bomb falls harmlessly onto the crater’s edge, and Zabu survives the chaos. The fighting may not be over, but the leaders’ plot is exposed and the young islanders have a chance to choose peace instead of continuing the inherited war.

Ka-Zar uncovers the truth that Heinrich Draco and Captain Christopher, the leaders of the two warring factions in New Britannia, know that the war is over and are prolonging it for their own reasons. He and Zabu manage to stop the two when they try to blow up the Savage Land by dropping a bomb into a volcano.
