Power Man is playing a game of football on the beach of the French Riviera with the women of the CCI secretarial pool after him and Iron Fist were rescued from Alaska by CCI's board chairwoman, Maxine Walters. Danny is forced to wear a spacesuit-like outfit after suffering radiation poisoning during their stint in Alaska. On the beach, Danny undergoes extensive medical testing while Luke tries to convince him that K'un-Lun is really the answer to making him whole again. Danny is skeptical because of the impermanent nature of K'un-Lun and the hostility many of its inhabitants have towards him. Danny excuses himself so that Maxine can take him to Paris for more tests, something she admits she does begrudgingly to keep the military off her back. Meanwhile, John Lumus is working in a CCI helicopter factory when he receives word via a letter from Maxine Walters that his brother Stanley Lumus has died of radiation poisoning. Elsewhere, Colleen Wing gets a phone call from Luke who is angered by Misty Knight's apparent indifference towards Danny's plight and demands to know why she has been so distant but Colleen makes an excuse for her. Maxine and Danny are flying in a jet-copter through Paris when the control jams and forces them to crash. Another CCI jet-copter appears and Maxine thinks it's a rescuer until it starts shooting at them. Inside the copter, John Lumus mutters angrily about receiving the news of his dead brother in a memo and indiscriminately begins dropping bombs in the hopes of taking out Maxine because of her apathy. Danny and Maxine escape into an abandoned subway and are attacked by a couple of drunken winos but they are killed when Lumus arrives and begins shooting. The subway structure begins to collapse from the missile strikes as Danny and Maxine flee the enraged Lumus. Danny and Maxine get separated as the subway continues to collapse around them. Eventually Lumus manages to confront Maxine and smacks her to the ground while Danny is forced to remove his protective outfit so that he can bust through a large pile of rubble using the Iron Fist. Now able to move freely, he easily deals with Lumus after breaking through but almost kills him in anger for forcing him to remove his protective suit. Maxine kisses Danny, having grown closer to him despite her initial standoffishness. Back in Brooklyn, Colleen angrily confronts Misty and tells her of Danny and Luke's plans to fight their way in and out of K'un-Lun and the she plans to join them. She pressures Misty to assess her loyalties and decide if she wants to come with her or continue to see another man behind Danny's back, the apparent reason for her lack of attentiveness towards Danny's situation.
