At the Ralsby Family Estate, Spider-Man attempts to convince the survivors hiding there that they cannot simply remain behind their walls while Doverton is overrun. His improvised speech is somewhat undermined by the presence of the estate's escaped zoo animals, a consequence of Eric's earlier attempt to reach his family. Nevertheless, the townspeople agree to follow Spider-Man back into the city. The situation there has deteriorated badly. Mercury Team is surrounded by civilians under Carnage's control, and their specialized weaponry proves largely ineffective against the sheer number of their opponents. Inside a nearby bar, Cletus Kasady continues manipulating the people around him while Hannah remains under his control. The arrival of the possessed Avengers makes matters even worse, forcing the soldiers to request assistance from Scorn. Scorn, however, has been working on a solution of her own at the Ralsby Meat Packing Plant. She has been preparing a bulldozer for a purpose that becomes clear only when she finally joins the battle. Meanwhile, Spider-Man and the townspeople enter Doverton, where the conflict rapidly becomes chaotic. The survivors use Molotov cocktails to drive back the symbiotes, while Eric attempts to reach his wife. Spider-Man confronts Carnage directly, but the villain quickly gains the upper hand and pins him down. Carnage is about to finish Spider-Man when a powerful sonic attack suddenly tears into the symbiote. Agent Venom has arrived, having finally located his target. His weapons exploit the symbiotes' vulnerability to sonic frequencies, weakening Carnage and beginning to disrupt his control over the people and heroes he has possessed. Agent Venom prepares to execute Kasady, but Spider-Man stops him, giving Carnage enough of an opening to regain control of the Thing and Captain America. Scorn arrives at precisely the right moment, using the bulldozer to smash both Carnage and Agent Venom into a huge machine at the packing plant. She reveals that she has worked out the real key to defeating Carnage: rather than merely attacking the symbiote, she must separate it from Kasady himself. Once the machine is activated, its concentrated sonic output forcibly drives both the Carnage and Venom symbiotes from their hosts. The civilians and heroes are consequently released from Carnage's influence, while the disoriented Carnage symbiote escapes from the facility. Spider-Man is left wondering what became of Agent Venom. Inside the machine, the answer is revealed: Flash Thompson lies incapacitated after being separated from his symbiote, while Cletus Kasady stands over him with a shard of glass, demanding to know what happened to his legs.
