A hero named The Human Fly is being lowered down from a helicopter onto a flying Boeing 747 jet plane, assisted by his two associates Ted Locke and Blaze Kendall in the helicopter. Down below on the ground in the Houston airport, a skeptical reporter named Harmony Whyte reports the story and recounts how, minutes earlier, the Human Fly and his crew had been at the same airport when news came in of a mercenary gang taking the passenger jet hostage for ransom money. Up in the air, Blaze remembers how she used to be a pilot who saved a jet in the past from killing any passengers after the captain suffered a heart attack and she landed the craft herself, leading to only injuries. Blaze remembers how her confidence was shattered and the only one who was able to help her believe in herself again was the Human Fly. Meanwhile, Ted remembers his time as a soldier in Vietnam and how in saving a Viernamese woman and children from an explosive, he lost his hands. He remembers how the only one who was able to inspire him to quit giving up after that moment was the Human Fly. Bolstered by these memories, Blaze is able to increase the speed of the helicopter and Ted is able to stabilize the rattling metal pole to allow The Human Fly to make it onto the 747 jet plane. The Fly is forced off the plane's exterior by the mercenaries inside, but uses his boots to just barely jettison himself back to the plane and grab hold. He remembers his own origin story of becoming a disabled cripple after losing his family in a car crash, and how he spent years slowly training himself to moved again after everyone else had given up on him. The Human Fly makes his way into the plane and begins combat with the mercenary gang members. It turns out that Peter Parker, better known as the super hero Spider-Man, was also on the plane, heading on his way toward Houston to double-check if the new stunt man was Spider-Man's villain of the same name. Peter suits up as Spider-Man and helps the Human Fly defeat the mercenaries, with the plane eventually landing safely. As the news interviews the Human Fly afterward and he tells them he will give all reward money to charity, the reporter Harmony Whyte thinks to herself that the Human Fly is "too good" and decides she will dedicate herself to exposing him.
