During the green rain's chaos, Detectives Cosby and Kessler present Commissioner Renee Montoya with a serial killer case gone cold after the lead suspect went missing and the related crimes had stopped over the past weeks. Later, the three meet at another crime scene near the Newton Raceway where a kid was mauled. That night, as The Question, Renee investigates the suspect's apartment. She finds a key that leads her to a storage locker with dead bodies, captives, and the suspect, who is now, because of the green rain, a monster. One of the captives shocks the monster. The Question frees the captives and leaves. The next day, the detectives tell Commissioner Montoya that the suspect and the captives have been found. Detective Cosby notices a small injury on Montoya's forehead and jokingly asks if she is a vigilante.
