The Riots return to the Dealer, who had originally tasked them with breaking into S.T.A.R. Labs. Unsatisfied, the Riots set their sights on stealing the time/phase integrator from LexCorp. Fortunately for them, LexCom is hosting a party, and the current LexCorp building is still under construction, leaving security considerably thinner than usual. Luthor is tipped off about the break-in and instructs his men to handle it quietly so as not to disrupt the festivities. Clark, however, is a guest at the party and overhears the conversation. He slips away and begins patrolling the buildings of New Troy, where he locates the Riots. In retaliation, they unleash chaos at the LexCom party, forcing Superman to abandon his search and intervene there instead. Also present at the party is the Riots' uncle, Hal Legion, who pleads desperately with Frederick to stop, to no avail. Lois asks Hal about his connection to Riot, and he explains: the man once known as Frederick Von Frankenstein came from a long line of scientists, the Frankenstein family. During one of his experiments, he entered a state in which his vibration frequency allowed him to borrow copies of himself from microseconds in the past and future. His body began to deteriorate as a result, and because he had borrowed multiple versions of himself from different points in time, they shared a collective consciousness that made sleep impossible. He then named himself Riot. The device he stole would allow him to synchronise his vibration and restore his natural state. Superman, having understood the full picture, makes the unusual decision to stand down and calls off the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit. Riot retreats to his refuge, and for the first time in years, he is finally able to sleep. He is then taken to Stryker's Island Penitentiary, still asleep.
