Across the world, Emperor Doom's Doombots are forcibly collecting all wayward units to return them home. In the Runaways' Hostel, Nico sits in her car with the groceries she brought home before Doombot welcomes her in to enjoy his cooking. She brings in the food and remembers the events that tore her found family apart months ago, when a future version of Gert took Chase back to the future with her and Karolina took the Staff of One away with her to the stars. In the kitchen, Victor pesters Doombot about choosing a new name, but Doombot insists that he is Doom while Molly and Gert sit at the dinner table. Nico puts the food away and leaves the room silently, so Gert takes her goulash and follows Nico out. Victor and Doombot's conversation heats up until Molly insists that Victor leave the robot alone so he doesn't move on and leave them behind. Gert finds Nico undergoing combat training, but posits that Nico should focus on learning magic instead. They are interrupted by a loud noise coming from outside and the Runaways head outside to check out the disturbance. Exiting a giant hole blown through their garage, the team encounters a group of Doombots demanding their Doombot, designated C53, return to his creator. Doombot C53 agrees with their commands, but when Victor jumps in to prevent them taking his friend away, the Doombots take hold of Victor, and C53 rushes to his defense. Realizing they need help, Gert runs inside to enlist aid from Gib. Though she is able to bring him outside, Gib refuses to fight Doombot due to an oath he swore after their last altercation, and cannot tell the difference between the Doombots to assist them in their struggle. Old Lace and Molly join Victor in fighting off the Doombots and Gert asks a God she doesn't believe in for help before a hole rips in the fabric of reality, and Chase Stein returns to the Runaways.
