After they were left stranded by Krem of the Yellow Hills, Supergirl and Ruthye take a trip on a series of spacecraft in order to find a yellow sun and catch up with Krem. Ruthye spends the early part of their journey struggling with the smell of other passengers, recounting tales of her life growing up on a farm to justify just how bad the stench was. After one such unpleasant passenger sleeps on her, she wakes the individual and uses the threat of Supergirl to encourage the alien to keep out of her personal space. As the journey continues, Ruthye fantasizes about the way by which she envisions defeating Krem, noting that the satisfaction of the fantasy helps her ignore the smell. After reaching their first stop on Andmurph's Asteroid, Supergirl begins to notice the stars changing, a sensation that is not shared by Ruthye. The pair spend their limited time on the rock tracking down food and discussing Ruthye's first experience of space travel. While they eat, an alien who holds a grudge against Supergirl's cousin Superman comes up to them and threatens Supergirl, who briefly taunts the assailant before slamming their head into the bar. As they continue on the next stretch of their journey, their vessel is stopped by a metal-eating Karpane Dragon. Supergirl is asked by the ships pilot to help, but she notes that she spent too much time on a planet with the wrong sun and as such has no charge for her powers. She solicits the passengers for Red Kryptonite, explaining to Ruthye that people normally take it as a hallucinogenic, but that for Kryptonians the visions become real. When she takes the drug, she transforms into a large phoenix-like bird and fights off the dragon, allowing their journey to continue. Before handling the next stretch of their space travel, Supergirl and Ruthye stop off at a public restroom, sharing a kind moment where Supergirl teaches Ruthye how to wash her hands, explaining that Kryponians were a clean people and acknowledging the loss and grief they each carry with them. On the next ship, Ruthye again finds that her neighbour is ignorant of her personal space and begins to repeat the same argument she had earlier. This time the alien is more hostile, causing Supergirl, whose powers are beginning to return, to hit the passenger in the nose, knocking them out and ensuring the rest of the journey remains peaceful. As their journey comes to a close, Ruthye recounts the events after they were ambushed. She explains that Supergirl had brought her and Krypto to medical attention, insisting that they be helped first before collapsing. Ruthye reveals that the arrows that had hit Supergirl and Krypto were tipped with a hunting poison that did not affect Supergirl, but had put her faithful dog close to death. Supergirl agreed to travel with Ruthye in order to retrieve the original poison in order to heal Krypto. The pair leave the ship they had traveled on, and for the first time, Ruthye witnesses Supergirl fly.
