Earth is left reeling from Emperor Doom's public admittance that he imprisoned and used the life force of millions of Latverians to fuel his magical powers. Within days, people are deeply divided on their opposition and support of Doom. While many protested against Doom, others surprisingly believed Doom's claims that his countrymen "volunteered" to sacrifice their lives for their Emperor. Doom and his loyalists cracked down on the protests and his critics for "treason", and the heroes who are against Doom are instantly condemned as vigilantes. Publicly known heroes such as Tony Stark, Doctor Stephen Strange, Jennifer Walters and Clinton Barton are threatened by Doom's supporters in which their private residences were attacked with dozens of letter bombs; the police refused to press charges under the pretense no one was seriously injured in the attacks. News channels that are friendly to Doom nonchalantly reveal the heroes' addresses to the public. The protests soon turned into a series of armed uprisings which were quickly crushed by Doom. On the Impossible City, Tony, Susan, and Maria Hill discuss the current situation against Doom. So far the public has largely turned against Doom in response to his brutal suppressions, but he isn't defeated yet. Hill sees an opportunity with a world completely united against Doom, this makes him distracted with the uprisings and allow the Avengers and their allies to launch a coordinated attack on him. The Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men attack Doom and his T-Rex steed at Castle Doom. While Doom remains powerful, the heroes are wiser in using their powers and abilities to launch combination attacks against the Sorcerer Supreme, catching him off guard, thanks to secret S.H.I.E.L.D. files provided by Hill. The battle is watched by Valeria Richards on live television with Franklin, Jo-Venn Masters-Grimm, and N'Kalla Masters-Grimm on their family farm in Arizona. While her siblings cheered for the heroes, Valeria expresses her doubts that the heroes will win. Doom is being put on the defensive, but he counters his enemies before he is suddenly whisked away to the Astral Plane by Reed. Reed expresses his shame with Doom for believing that Doom would have stepped down from power after revealing his ruse as a benign tyrant. Now Reed is resorting to "Plan B": ever since Doom used his knowledge to wield all types of magic, Reed has been studying magic from a scientific lens, and as well learning from Doom's battle with Dormammu, and has built a new science to match his power against Doom. Thus Reed, as a Scientist Supreme, engages the Sorcerer Supreme. Reed attacks Doom with spells invented by the latter, but this becomes Reed's weakness. He is only copying Doom's powers which Doom effortlessly counters back before sending Reed into an infinitely iterated Fractal Dimension, where Reed's body is stretched farther than imaginable until both combatants return to Latveria. Reed, badly weakened, begs Doom for mercy before losing consciousness. Doom then blasts Reed with green magical fire, promising that he won't die but "nothing more."
