A midnight high-speed car chase, punctuated by one-sided gunfire, draws Darrel Dane and Professor Roberts through the hills and up the side of a mountain, in pursuit of four very well-armed gangsters. Suddenly an avalanche sends both cars crashing into smoking wreckage. Three of the four thugs escape alive from their car, unable to bring their loot with them, miles from the nearest town, they very luckily find a small cave opening in the mountainside, and scramble inside. The cave leads to a long, dark tunnel, at the end of which is a wide-open countryside, with pine trees on the hills in the background and log cabins up close; it's a 17th-century Puritan-style village, and the menfolk carry blunderbusses. These are low-tech, guileless, country folk, who also wear expensive rings and other jewelery, in a distinctly un-Puritanical manner. They invite the hoods to stay as long as they like. The hoods go on a murderous robbing spree. In the other smashed car, (and using no visible pill or potion), Darrel gets small and starts tossing big rocks around, pulls unconscious Prof. out of the car, then gets big again. Once Roberts is conscious and seated safely off the road, Dane again gets small and sprints off in pursuit of the crooks. He runs ten miles up the road, passing the cave, but then doubles back and checks out the cave. One Puritan girl, in a shoulderless ballroom gown and long gloves, carrying a sack of gold and jewels, is rescued from a corrupted bully, a hireling of the three gangsters, when Doll Man shows up and punches this lout out. Already a barrel full of wedding rings and other jewelery has been accumulated. In another room of the same cabin, Doll Man finds the three robbers, plus one more corrupted local henchman; they try to shoot him but are just not quick enough; he's got them all four of them punched out in short order. Doll Man recruits the local schoolteacher to help redistribute the stolen loot. The five bad guys end up in pillories, in the village square, facing life sentences as pronounced by the schoolteacher.
