Superman catches up with his friend Jimmy, who apologises for his past missteps. Superman reveals to him that he is in fact married, and is just about to share the secret when Mongul arrives and informs him that they must leave immediately as Imperiex has entered the universe. Before departing, Superman tells Jimmy to pass a message to Lois and Clark Kent: "beef bourguignon with ketchup." Upon reaching Saturn, they finally come face to face with Imperiex. The battle begins, and Superman harnesses his powers to generate a devastating twister, destroying Imperiex's planet-destroying machine. As the dust settles, however, Imperiex himself appears to have vanished along with it. Believing the threat to be over, Mongul seizes the opportunity to backstab Superman. Thanks to the training Mongul himself put him through, however, Superman gains the upper hand with ease. Before the fight can conclude, Lobo swoops in and snatches Mongul away, drawn by the bounty on his head. Superman lets him go. The Man of Steel returns home. Meanwhile, the Imperiex they encountered was merely a Probe, serving the true Imperiex, who vows to destroy Superman.
