The book "The Chronicles of Choloh" describes how the mage Calculha discovered mystical multicolored threads that weave magic. In the Earth's core, there was a furnace of mystical power. Ancients carved twelve mystic crystals to focus that power. They were placed across the world and provided magic and heat to the entire planet. Two brothers fought, draining the crystals' power and subjecting the Earth to an ice age. Orm attacks New Venice, Aquaman's home. Aquaman confronts Orm, but he is more than before and Orm retreats. After Atlantis' royal seal is stolen, the people of Atlantis protest Aquaman as they believe that the diplomats of the surface world he invited are responsible for the theft. Believing that the seal was stolen magically, King Vulko tasks Aquaman with venturing to Thierna Na Oge, another undersea kingdom. In Thierna Na Oge, former King Nuada Silverhand is imprisoned by King Bres. In a new camouflage costume, Aquaman, after failing to sneak into the walled city, is imprisoned in Thierna Na Oge alongside Nuada.
