“Skinny” Lurch, a heavyset gangster, orders his goons, Stump and Garret about a payroll robbery and then orders them out, since he has a young boy coming by to clean up some junk from his yard. The boy, Sonny, soon arrives and piles the junk, but Lurch merely pays him with a “Magic Eye” (a hubcap-shaped disc) that he claims will let him “see the future!” Sonny runs to the Ice Cream Shop where Freddy Freeman is enjoying a tasty ice-cream soda and finds that the soda jerk doesn't usually take magic eyes. Freddy charitably offers to pay for an ice-cream soda for him as well and leaves to go start delivering the Evening Star. Soon enough, Deliveryman Tom drops off the papers and gives him the hot news: a convict has escaped from jail! Some time later, Freddy finds that he still has the Seeing Eye and wonders if it'll do something for him too… finding that in it he can see the convict is at his Newsstand! When he leaves Mrs. Wagner's to check in on it, he finds it's true and calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Captain Marvel, Jr. and soon arrests him. Later, Lurch is amazed to find that the Seeing Eye actually works in the paper and says they should get it back to plan robberies. Lurch asks Junior if he can have the Seeing Eye back and Junior flies off to confer with Sonny to find that it was originally his. However, when he looks into it again, he sees Freddy getting blackjacked by Lurch and dumped bound, gagged and unconscious into New York Harbor. He tries to throw them off by turning back into Freddy to try to sneak in, only for Stump and Garret to find him and knock him out. Checking the Seeing Eye, they find that Skinny will escape the cops after robbing the payroll and says they can dump Freddy in the Harbor now. Junior manages to slip his gag on a nail in the side of a dock pole and calls CAPTAIN MARVEL to become Captain Marvel, Jr. and flies into their car, punching out all three goons on the street and carrying them off to jail, syaing that he's going to throw the Seeing Eye into the ocean where no one will be able to misuse it.
