Candace waits to board a ship to Coleumbrian Quarter, but unknown to her, she is being watched by the Four Fingers, who themselves are being spied on by Superboy and Batkid. Ian successfully warns Candace by making her look behind her after setting off fireworks. As the ship sails away too far, she realizes she won't make it on her own, but Jon soon rushes towards her and helps her reach the boat. Batkid meanwhile successfully deals with three of the Four Fingers, but one of them directs a horde of rats to attack him. Jon soon intervenes by spilling oil over the dock and directs Ian to light a match, forcing them to flee. At the PolarShield Project Control Center, Cray Ving offers a cup of coffee to Para Sol. Meanwhile at his home, Mrs. Kiack tells Jon that a young girl had come by earlier, claiming she was a friend of Candace. He realizes that it must have been one of the Four Fingers. Next day at school, Tilly gets worried over Jon constantly searching about the PolarShield Project and states that he's obsessed.
Meanwhile at the Wayne Enterprises headquarters, Damian gets a call from Bruce while working on his zip line and gets told that he'll be needing him soon. Viewing the Wyndmere Station Bridge later on, the Four Fingers express frustration at Avryc's gang blowing it up since it was the last bridge that could help them get across. Jon and Tilly go to the North Central University the next day, and get told by a doctor who informs that her mother was infected a virus manufactured in a lab as a bio-weapon. He states that they would need a bigger sample for a cure, however they should let the government handle it. One of the researchers who overheard the talk, calls out to Jon and Tilly while they're leaving, telling them the only place it could be manufactured is the submerged Cinapolis, located across the Tamron River. Unknown to them, one of the Four Fingers has been watching them. Sailing on a ship across Tamron, Candace experiences a memory of being warned by birds when General Al'Feasnc flooded her land, after the dam in his nation filled up.
Tilly tells Jon that he should have informed him about Candace trying to leave earlier, but he reasons that she would have went anyway. A prisoner later informs Avryc about Jon speaking to a scientist at the North Central University about the virus, and she tells him to inform Sir Reale to help her break out of jail quickly. Meanwhile, Candace again sees a group of birds pointing in the sky like they did to warn her long ago. Jumping in the river, she attempts to stay afloat to regain her breath, but a group of swans soon come to assist her and carry her across their backs across the river. She reaches a refugee camp, where she meets the medicine smuggler Tori, who tells her that the Coleumbrian Quarter is dangerous and advises her to rest at the camp for a day, but promises to her partway to the city. As they talk, she experiences a memory of being saved from the floods unleashed by Al'Feasnc and her mother calling a secret meeting, where the council unanimously votes to go to war against him.
Ian is meanwhile looking at Bruce's previous hologram message repeatedly and realizes that he was reading about the Yarsagumba of Nepal. He believes that his dad is looking for a cure for the flu and learns from Patience that he and Lois were investigating PolarShield together. Back at Jon's home, Mrs. Kiack tells Jon that the girl who came by earlier is standing at the door, and Jon looks up to find the other Four Fingers accompanying her. He then tells Kiack to hold on to him and trust him, before jumping with her to another room from the balcony. The Four Fingers leave after being unable to find them and Jon tells Kiack that he'll stay with a friend for safety, but promises to call her or Jill twice everyday. He soon informs Ian, who tells Patience to lock herself in, before rushing off to fight. Attacking the Four Fingers, he uses a fire horse to force them to run. Meanwhile, Candace reveals to Tori that she's from a royal family of Upper Landis and birds follow her, though she doesn't know why.
Tori tells Candace she is lucky as birds represent freedom and her powers may be meant to inspire others. She then tells her that her friend Jacob will guide her the rest of the way, before bidding goodbye. Jon travels to Tilly's home at night and she agrees to let him sleep in her room as long as he needs. Near the under-construction Tamron River Bridge, the Four Fingers attack a group of workers and steal their uniforms, before deciding that they need to seek help in finding Candace from someone other than Superboy or Batkid. At the Daily Planet, Jon and Tilly watch a video of the four ambushing the construction crew to illegally cross the Tamron river. The four fooled other workers into letting them borrow their canoe and used it to travel across the river. In the Coleumbrian Woods, Jacob informs Candace that there's a bounty being offered to capture her. The Four Finger reach Cinapolis three days later and are confronted by a gang of criminals, whom they intimidate into taking them to their leader, after threatening them with snakes.
Meeting Cinapolis' criminal boss Sinba, they demand they tell them about a girl whom birds are attracted to and is going from west to east unlike the flood refugees. Sinba suggests that they agree to help them interrogate some prisoners, which they do. Jacob tells Candace to hide while traveling through the woods, while she calls the birds for help. As two goons beat him up to make him spill where she is, she soon shows up herself and has the birds attack them. Ian gains access to the Tamoran River Bridge due to being a Wayne and tells Jon not to worry about anything illegal since they're the team of Super Sons. At Cinapolis, one of the goons that tried to find Candace tells Sinba that he's come to receive the bounty on the princess after finding her. Sinba however doesn't believe him and makes Aminia intimidate him with a horde of rats, in order to make sure he isn't hiding anything. Tilly later shows her disguise of Puppet Girl to the boys and Ian details that they'll zip-line across power cables when electricity shuts off at midnight.
Jon thinks it's a bad idea that he'll have to run across buildings to alert security, but Tilly states that it'll work if he does as they practiced. He notices she is sad, to which she states that she doesn't want to stay behind, though in actual she feels upset over Jon not needing to stay with her anymore. During the night, Jon runs across the buildings as planned, while Ian zips across the power lines. He and Tilly then wait for Ian to start a fire that would distract security and allow them to go across the river, but Ian soon informs them that he's going alone. Jon agrees with Tilly that he needs to go after him as it'll be dangerous, deciding to jump across the river, a feat he successfully he accomplishes. He attaches a metal to his wristband to block his frequency and later gets woken up by a group of ducks who make him follow them. The ducks lead him straight to Ian, whom he confronts about abandoning him and Tilly. Ian states he works alone, upon which Jon reminds that his father doesn't and wouldn't like how he acted towards his friends.
As Jon and Ian fight, the former spots two of the Fingers coming towards them. One of them makes the bees attack them and Jon unsuccessfully tries escaping by jumping away, before falling unconscious alongside Ian. Bruce Wayne later informs Patience that he's close to finding the Yarsagumba and to not to alert the authorities about Ian. She advises to contact Mr. Mylark about his Sage Foods products making people ill and that he may know where Ian is. A while later, a news anchor reports that Dr. Para Sol has died and Dr. Dray Ving has been selected to succeed her as leader of the PolarShield Project. Cray tells a mysterious man that his plan went according to expectations, with him being in-charge of PolarShield after poisoning Para Sol. He then tells him to silence those raising question about her death. When Candace reaches the Armorac Split, she is confronted by the Four Fingers who try to intimidate her with the land animals. She however calls on the help of the birds of prey and is able to escape using a raft.
Waking up in Cinapolis, Ian realizes the goons stole his Batbelt and his as well as Jon's wristbands, but agrees that they can't go home without finding the virus source and Candace. Patience soon realizes that Ian is in Cinapolis and informs Bruce when he doesn't answer back. Tilly soon finds out where Ian and Jon are too, before convincing the researcher who informed them about Cinapolis to help her. Arriving at Coleumbria National Garden, Candace finds the cactus her mother left a clue and discovers the jar of anointing oil that would allow her to reclaim her throne. Her presence however attracts the birds, which alerts two of the Four Fingers who have arrived in the capital. Back in Wyndmere, Tilly steals the Bat-Craft while the researcher distracts Patience. In Cinapolis, Jon and Ian successfully escape and decide to let the Four Sisters take the briefcase with the virus, so they know where it's being manufactured. In Coleumbria Quarter, Candance soon gets cornered but unexpectedly calls upon lightning to save herself.
The Four Fingers soon find Candace along the canal, but one of them, Bashata, sends the fish to warn her. After destroying the virus lab in Cinapolis, the Super Sons decide to find Candace and Tilly soon arrives at their location. Jon tells her to use the Bat-Craft's radar to find a place where lots of birds are gathering. Back in Coleumbria Quarter, Candace gets Bashata's message and flees. The Four Fingers soon catch up to her and force her to come along, but the Super Sons soon arrive and Bashata secretly helps them in freeing Candace and grabbing her jar by tripping Khalifa. In Wyndmere, Avryc is meanwhile able to escape after a prison riot. The kids later realize that the Four Sisters still have the virus briefcase. Candace guesses they're heading back to Landis, and Tilly figures out that her jar is pointing to Upper Landis. Jon overhears the Fingers saying they're headed to Mochi in Lower Landis, before jumping on a boat to help Candace travel there. Returning to Wyndmere, he promises Lois to find a cure.
