Beneath the North Pole, in Akkaba City, Pestilence gives birth to twins. One has completely black skin and the other is completely red. Both have wings on their backs. She names them Uriel and Eimin. Pestilence laments that Lord Archangel cannot be there. The babies are taken to be cleaned as Genocide says that Clan Akkaba needs a leader rather than children. Genocide insists that he, as the heir of Apocalypse, should be leader. Famine warns Genocide against speaking out of turn. The babies are placed in their nursery to rest while Genocide and Famine stand guard outside. Kang the Conqueror materialises in the room and picks up the babies, telling them that they will ensure that Kang never has to deal with beings like them again. He and the babies then vanish. During these scenes Kang has been soliloquising about his efforts to prevent the future that the birth of these babies, referred to as the Apocalypse Twins, brings about. He believes this era is enclosed in a chronos dam and that some unseen person is guarding the birth of these babies. Kang believes that, after hundreds of years of planning and attempts, he has devised a stratagem that will make the future occur in the way he wants it to. In New York City, Wonder Man and the Wasp are on their way to Avengers Mansion. They’ve been discussing the fact that Janet is financing the new team that Captain America is putting together. Wasp thinks that Wonder Man is afraid that the Scarlet Witch might be taking advantage of his affection for her by getting him involved in the P.R. for the new team. Unbeknownst to them, the Grim Reaper is watching them from nearby. Upon passing security checks, the two of them enter Avengers Mansion. Inside they find Rogue has taken down a portrait of the original Avengers and is replacing it with one of Professor X. This causes an argument between Wasp and Rogue. Havok arrives on the scene and tries to play peacemaker. He then greets the new arrivals and thanks them for agreeing to do the P.R. Elsewhere in the mansion, Captain America is exercising. Whilst doing so he watches a news broadcast that reports three more mutants have been killed since the Red Skull’s riot, with red skulls painted on their faces after their deaths. There’s also an excerpt of Honest John insisting that Red Skull was not to blame and the riot was a result of humanity fighting back against mutants trying to wipe them out. The news report also highlights the upcoming press conference about the Avengers Unity Division. Cap finishes his workout and is approached by Wanda, who questions whether Havok is really the best choice for leader. She protests that she, as a longtime Avenger, should be leader. Cap reasons with her that he knows she wants to uphold Xavier’s dream. Wanda realises her actions would make it difficult for the public and her own team to trust her as leader. Cap assures Wanda that he believes in her. Meanwhile, over in Tokyo, the fallen hero, Sunfire is taking solace in drink. After serving as one of the Horsemen of Apocalypse Shiro has been feeling something calling him back to Clan Akkaba to serve the newborn babies. Instead he comes face to face with Wolverine who makes him an offer to join the Avengers Unity Division. Sunfire is reluctant, but Wolverine tells him that Charles Xavier believed Sunfire was capable of greatness. After having killed his own son and buried him Wolverine tells Sunfire that he knows about the kind of sorrow Shiro must be feeling about his fall from grace. Wolverine then extends the offer again. Back at Avengers Mansion, the team has a meeting. Captain America suggests that maybe as former members of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants both Wanda and Rogue shouldn’t be at the press conference. Havok disagrees and says he wants full transparency. He believes the only way to get the public to trust them is by being truthful with them. In an elevator within the mansion, Rogue and Havok discuss the meeting. Alex states that Cap is going to have to trust his judgement if he wants him to be the leader of this team. He also admits to Rogue that he still feels like he needs to prove to Scott that he was wrong to give up on Xavier’s dream. Rogue tells Alex that Xavier would be proud of him. Later, on the grounds of Avengers Mansion, the team, joined by Wolverine and Sunfire, makes their debut as the Avengers Unity Division at a press conference. Captain America speaks and then introduces Havok as leader. Havok delivers a speech where he says he feels that the word “mutant” is divisive and separates people instead of bringing them together. The press conference is then crashed by a resurrected Grim Reaper who attacks Wanda. She is saved by the intervention of Wonder Man, brother of the Grim Reaper. Eric battles the Avengers Unity Squad, with Wonder Man refusing to fight, while claiming that he is now unable to die. He berates his brother telling him that they both should be dead, but after being resurrected by Wanda’s power only her death will free them. During the fight, Rogue absorbs some of Wonder Man's powers and seemingly punches Grim Reaper harder than normal, apparently killing him in the process, despite him claiming he’d tried to kill himself without success. All of this has been documented on camera by the assembled members of the press.
