Adani was born to a deeply religious father, a leader among his community. As their world’s sun begins to burst, he pushes them further towards devotion and prepares to sacrifice his daughter and show his piety, before the Phoenix arrives on their planet. The assembly cowers in fear as she tells them that she will not let their dying sun kill them before flying out and drawing off the star’s excess energy. As a supermassive black hole threatens the Kyln 2, Nova works with prison personnel to evacuate and secure the inmates. Nova admits their need for backup, and the resulting distress signal interrupts Jean Grey and Scott Summers as they psychically correspond. Jean rushes to defend Nova from an escaped inmate. Updated on the situation, the Phoenix resolves to stabilize the black hole, leaving Nova to handle the prisoners. Taming the threat with her immense cosmic power, Nova informs Phoenix that a prisoner has escaped. The dark god Perrikus killed prisoner and worker alike as he absconded with an escape craft, which the Phoenix sees and gives chase to. She is halted by Nova, who exclaims that the prison is about to explode. Letting Perrikus go, she returns and stops the destruction of the prison, sparing the lives of hundreds onboard. Perrikus’ ship lands on Adani’s planet, and he steps out, speaking to the child. Her father rushes to her defense but is murdered by the escaped prisoner. The young girl cries out for her father.

Adani narrates her life and her beginnings with the Phoenix. The Universal Church of Truth is holding a ceremony on Adani's planet. Their sun is dying, but Phoenix arrives and heals it. Elsewhere a black hole is destroying a Omega Core prison. Some of the prisoners are released from their cells, including Morg and Perrikus. Nova calls Jean for help. She is having a psychic date with Scott, who is back in Alaska. She intervenes, stabilizing the black hole. Unfortunately, she is unable to stop Perrikus from escaping the prison entirely. He lands on Adani's planet, and kills her father.
