PGX (Professional Grading eXperts) is a smaller, longer-running third-party comic grading service that continues to accept direct, no-membership submissions for grading, pressing, and signature authentication (its own 'Gold Label' program). PGX-graded copies trade in the secondary market but typically at a discount to comparable CGC grades, reflecting PGX's smaller public population data and lower buyer confidence in cross-service grade consistency. Panel Profits records PGX certification separately from CGC/CBCS in its provenance data and does not treat a PGX numeric grade as directly interchangeable with a CGC grade of the same number.
A smaller or niche certification agency can persist in a market dominated by one or two larger competitors, typically trading at a discount in resale markets because of lower name recognition and a thinner population of comparable certified sales.
Real-World Comic Market Application
A PGX 9.4-graded copy of a key issue will typically command a lower realized price than a CGC 9.4 of the identical issue and printing, even though both display the same numeric grade.
