Wonder Woman: "The Secret City of the Incas"
Steve Trevor) flies to California to receive intelligence information about Japanese activity in South America. However Captain West, Steve's contact, is murdered before he can relay the information. The assassin captures Steve, taking him and the Holliday Girls) as prisoners.
Worried over Steve's disappearance, Wonder Woman) flies west to find him. Etta Candy mentally contacts Diana, alerting her to a secret Inca City in South America where they are being held.
Arriving in the city, Wonder Woman rescues an Inca girl from becoming a human sacrifice. The girl, introduces herself as Cura, marvel's at Wonder Woman's immunity to fire, and super human strength, but expresses disapproval with the stranger interrupting the sacrifice of Cura's life. That is until the observers who were in the process of kill Cura state that they believe Wonder Woman to be a savior sent by the sun god. At this, Cura becomes devoted to Wonder Woman, as does her father, Ayar Manco. He is not the legendary ruler Ayar Manco, but a man named Manco, with Ayar having become the title of rulers of the secret Inca city, and until recently could produce no evidence to suggest Quito was lying about the sun god demanding Cura be burnt to death because of the Inca's sins.
High priest Quito arrives from a secret passageway and berates Manco for venerating Wonder Woman, who he insists was not sent by gods. The other Inca are skeptical, so Quito proves Wonder Woman's lack of divinity by trying to stab her, then dropping down a trap door when the knife does not work. Quito has Wonder Woman imprisoned with Cura, who explains that even though she is the Ayar's daughter, the position is chosen on merit. Cura is as skilled as anyone else in the city and stronger than everyone else, including the men, after all of her brothers were killed, so she's basically guaranteed to succeed Manco. Quito wants to kill off Cura, so that he can be in charge, and though Cura hates him, she is a devout servant of the sun god Quito is high priest of, as is Manco. Wonder Woman's arrival gave them a way out, but Quito is not being denied so easily.
When Quito's lesser priests try to execute Wonder Woman, she breaks free, rescues Steve and the Holliday Girls, reveals Quito's plan of conspiring with the Japanese, and "reinforces" her status as divinely gifted by once again proving immune to fire. Cura confronts Quito, forcing him into a duel. Defeated by Cura, Quito hurls himself to his death. With Quito dead, there is no one left to challenge Cura's status as Manco's successor and the effective Sapa Inca, given the secret city is also the last Inca city. She expresses her desire to put an end to human sacrifice, based on the observation Wonder Woman disapproves of it. Wonder Woman and her friends leave the city in peace. | Appearing1 = **Featured Characters:** *Wonder Woman) **Supporting Characters:** *Major Steve Trevor) *Colonel Phil Darnell) *Etta Candy) *Holliday Girls) ** Brenda) **Antagonists:** * Senor Quito * Imperial Japan **Other Characters:** * Captain Thomas "Tommy" West, Army Intelligence * Arios Hardik, famous archaeologist **Locations:** *Los Angeles, California *Washington, D.C. *South America ** Andes *** Four-Peak Mountain **** Secret Inca Stronghold **** Paccari-Tampu Temple, built of solid gold **Items:** *Bracelets of Submission *Lasso of Truth *Wonder Woman's Tiara **Vehicles:** * Wonder Woman's Invisible Plane * Quito's yacht, "Lima"

| Notes = * The **Black Pirate** is active in the 17th Century, in this story, and his liege is James II of England|King James. Given that the initial stories of the Pirate had him being active during the reign of Philip II) (1556-1598), and the reign of James II was between 1685 and 1688, the stories were simply transported without explanation to the 17th century. * The **Gay Ghost** can enter any solid body which isn't utterly evil, including bombs, which qualify because of the purpose for which they were manufactured. * **Wildcat** punches out Stretch Skinner, who later head-konks Ted Grant unconscious, with a lamp. Stretch then gets head-konked unconscious, with a dropped wrench. * **Wonder Woman** is fluent in the Ancient Inca language. ** *The Secret City of the Incas* is reprinted in *Wonder Woman Archives Vol. 3 (Collected)*. ** At this story's end, that hidden city and its solid gold temple are intact. Its location is known to U.S.Army Intelligence, Wonder Woman, and the Holliday Girls. * Also appearing in this issue of *Sensation Comics* was: ** Hal Mason "The Clover Club Mystery, Part 1" (text story) by Evelyn Gaines | Trivia = | Recommended = | Links =
