Reading this edition’s market
Compare the same cover, printing and grade before setting a bid. A raw guide or a higher-grade price does not establish a slab’s value. Include selling fees, shipping and the depth of completed-sale evidence when assessing an exit price.

Kit is frustrated with this not being a sheriff's duty, but she finds the baby hard to reject.
Bob Eaton is being pursued by Notch Burke and his gang, doesn't think Betty will be safe with them, but is convinced he'll have the trouble sorted out soon without any further assistance from Kit. Kit looks up Bob Eaton in the news papers and determines what Notch really wants is the Sudam Emerald that Bob is known to possess. Kit is skeptical of Bob's ability to keep it from Notch, and orders Luke organize a search party for Bob that Kit intends to join as soon as she's sure Betty is fed and comfortable. Notch enters through Kit's office window with a gun, however, threatening to shoot Kit if she doesn't let Notch look in the basket Betty is in.
As Kit leads Notch towards Betty, Notch walks into a trap and Kit manages to disarm him. Notch proves too strong for Kit to defeat even while taken off guard in unarmed combat, however, so Kit grabs Betty and locks herself behind bars, where Notch cannot get to them. Notch has to flee before the search party returns to the sheriff's office.
Kit has figured out Notch's game, however, and begins planning a more effective trap for him with Luke. In the process of rounding up the Burke gang, Kit also discovers a captive Bob Eaton and releases him to reunite with his daughter. Kit does order Bob to call his wife Lucille, however, declaring the two of them will be raising Betty in Kit's house until they're done building one of their own in Moon Bow. | Appearing3 = **Featured Characters:** * Kit Colby) **Supporting Characters:** * Luke Ferris * Betty Eaton **Antagonists:** * Notch Burke ** His gang **Other Characters:** * Bob Eaton * Lucille Eaton **Locations:** * Moon Bow County ** Train station **Items:** * Sudam Emerald **Vehicles:** * Luke's buckboard * Passenger train
