Reading this edition’s market

Compare the same cover, printing and grade before setting a bid. A raw guide or a higher-grade price does not establish a slab’s value. Include selling fees, shipping and the depth of completed-sale evidence when assessing an exit price.

The Two Lives of Jimmy Wakely!

| StoryTitle2 = The Mesa of Murderous Melody! | Synopsis2 =

| StoryTitle3 = Kit Colby: "The Sign of the Hooting Owl" | Synopsis3 =Sheriff Katherine Colby informs deputy Frank that she has closed every case to come to her office except for one involving the Cactus Kid, which she wants more information on. All Frank has for Sheriff Kit is a letter with a drawing on a hooting owl on it. Frank thinks it's a joke but Kit decides to take it's advice to go to Pace Corners, hoping it's a tip on Cactus Kid's activities.

Staying until past midnight, Frank is convinced it was a fake tip, but then Kit sees activity in a Wells-Fargo that shouldn't be opening for hours, and bursts in, finding masked men she nonetheless identifies as Cactus Kid and his gang. Cactus Kid doesn't deny the identification, but smashes his lamp and slips away from Kit and Frank, who still manage to catch two of Cactus Kid's cronies in the darkness.

The crooks have never seen Cactus Kid without his mask, but Kit has at least deprived him of two men and now has ideas for trapping him. She and Frank stake out a post office box until they see the Hooting Owl's calling card. It's not dropped by their man, but by Blind Ned, who was paid by someone he obviously cannot see, to mail it. Turns out the letter is to the town council, claiming to have proof Sheriff Kit Colby is the Cactus Kid, which Kit decides to allow to be mailed anyway, confident she can use the accusation to her advantage.

Turns out Kit made some changes to the letters content, and only one member of the council, Mr. Palmer, followed the original instructions, proving he was the Hooting Owl. Kit also has evidence he is the Cactus Kid, but Palmer isn't going to let Kit Colby reveal it without a fight. Realizing he cannot defeat her, he tries to escape, but he can't do that either.
