The Trail of a Thousand Hoofs!

| StoryTitle2 = Showdown at Santa Fe! | Synopsis2 =

| StoryTitle3 = Kit Colby: "The Mystery of the Indian Dolls" | Synopsis3 =Following robberies in T-Bar Ranch, Crescent City, and Arrow Junction, all for Cheyenne dolls made by the Vanished Plains Tribe, Sheriff Katherine decides to escort Mister Hiller, known for his large Indian doll collection, through Moon Bow. Katherine asks her deputy, Jess Sayers, if this is silly, but as at least one man was murdered during the robberies, Jess thinks it was the right call.

That night, Sheriff Katherine hides near the exhibition hall, to ambush potential doll thieves, but the thief she does see manages to get in and out of the building far faster than she thought possible. The masked man isn't faster than Katherine in a sprint, however, and she manages to tackle him. In the clutches of the dreaded Kit Colby herself, the masked man cries for help. Another masked man rides by on horseback and elbows Katherine. The two flee, knowing that won't keep Kit down, and that their commotion will send Jess to back her up.

Hearing of the break in, Mister Hiller urges Kit to organize a posse to scour the area for the thieves, but Kit thinks the thieves have too much of a lead. She has the real Cheyenne Princess doll besides, having swapped out the one on display for a fake in the darkness.

Mister Hiller publicly expresses doubt the next day about a female sheriff keeping him safe, and rides out of town. He runs into an ambush by masked men who steal a trunk out of his buggy and depart for Creek Bridge. Out of the trunk bursts an armed Kit, who arrests the robbers, only for two of them to be shot dead by a sniper. Realizing the concealed gunman was aiming for her, Kit dives into the creek and decides to swim back to town under cover of water and bridge.

Kit returns to her office to find Jess unconscious in front of her open safe where she had been hiding the Princess doll. The crook did not have time to clean up his foot prints. Realizing the tracks are not mud, Kit heads to the Moon Bow newspaper editor, Mister Parker, questioning him about the Cheyenne dolls. Parker becomes violent, but he's no match for Colby. As he falls, Mister Parker drops the stolen dolls into his own printing press, ruining their designs. It's a loss for the robbed parties, but the final thief is caught.
