Reading this edition’s market
Compare the same cover, printing and grade before setting a bid. A raw guide or a higher-grade price does not establish a slab’s value. Include selling fees, shipping and the depth of completed-sale evidence when assessing an exit price.
The table includes 0 guide observations and 1 catalog references. These are reference values, not guaranteed sale proceeds.
Graded population
CGC records 19 graded copies for Mystery in Space #21 (1954). Population is the number recorded by this grading source, not the total print run or all surviving copies.
Interplanetary Merry-Go-Round
Youngsters from all over the galaxy converge to enjoy an amazing floating space carnival. An unknown Samaritan has financed the creation of this youth paradise and a statue is erected in his honor in the amusement park. The founder of the park is referred to as the “most loved man in the universe.” A criminal is then spotted on the run in the park by authorities and they give chase trying to apprehend him. This outcast is referred to as the “most hated man in the universe.” The criminal then saves a child from an octopus monster as he continues to evade police. He then rescues a second child from a runaway horse ride. In the end he rescues a total of 3 lives but he is mortally wounded in the act of his final life saving action. The police then reveal that this man was responsible for the deaths of 3 scientists on a remote asteroid that was blown up by accident. To make up for this incident, the man responsible had financed the space carnival and saved 3 lives to atone for his actions. He dies as the most hated man in the universe is the shadow of the statue honoring the most loved man in the Universe. Both men being one and the same.
