Reading this edition’s market
Compare the same cover, printing and grade before setting a bid. A raw guide or a higher-grade price does not establish a slab’s value. Include selling fees, shipping and the depth of completed-sale evidence when assessing an exit price.
The table includes 8 guide observations and 1 catalog references. These are reference values, not guaranteed sale proceeds.
Graded population
CGC records 10 graded copies for My Greatest Adventure #51 (1961). Population is the number recorded by this grading source, not the total print run or all surviving copies.
We Unleashed the Demon of the Dungeon
Big-game hunters Steve and Paul stumble upon the isolated village called Loessburg, which was once ruled by an evil sorcerer named Gurlock. The town contains inactive "magical" weapons that look too scientifically advanced.
Steve and Paul explore Gurlock's abandoned castle and end up freeing a strange robotic creature from his dungeon. It explains that its name is Rab, and that they're an alien Gurlock threatened into using his advanced technology for his own goals. Steve and Paul agree
The following day, Rab begins attacking the town with his alien technology, trapping Steve and Paul in a dome of force. Steve realises it's attacking because Paul stole one of Rab's weapons and planned to use it for his own selfish goals.
| StoryTitle2 = I Made a Deal with Doom | Synopsis2 = Tourists Wally and Jane, planning to travel across an extremely perilous mountain range, are coerced into buying pills from their guide Raoul Sturgeon for $100,000 which give them temporary superpowers which will allow them to survive the climb.
When they arrive back, Wally and Jane are informed by the police that Sturgeon stole the pills after murdering a scientist, and that they have the side effect of shrinking their consumer over time.
Rapidly shrinking, Wally and Jane rush to the professor's lab to find the antidote. Wally finds the package containing the antidote and fashions a crossbow from a rubber band and a pencil to open it.
| StoryTitle3 = We Defied the Beasts of the Witch Doctor | Synopsis3 = Carl and his friend Dr. Roland Nye travel to the jungle in search of a supposed miracle fungus that can cure disease. They disregard a native's warning that the ancient witch doctor Moomba has filled the jungle with monstrous beasts to protect his medicine horde.
The native turns out to be correct, as the two are barely able to escape being killed by several different monsters. They find the cave containing the giant mushrooms, but another monster comes and burns it down. As the two escape, they realise that there was only ever one monster in total which could change its form like a chameleon.
