Reading this edition’s market
Compare the same cover, printing and grade before setting a bid. A raw guide or a higher-grade price does not establish a slab’s value. Include selling fees, shipping and the depth of completed-sale evidence when assessing an exit price.

Pickman's Model
Magazine writer, Thurber, befriends an eccentric artist named Pickman who specializes in painting demonic creatures. Pickman soon entrusts Thurber enough to show him his underground studio in the old part of Boston. There he shows him his latest piece of art. It's at this point that Pickman explains that he takes photographs of backgrounds that he uses in his paintings. A noise soon startles Pickman who pistol in hand investigates the noise, while he's away Thurber steals away the photograph. Pickman returns and Thurber leaves with Pickman offering an invitation to return at another time. Thurber leaves Pickman's studio in a state of shock where he is found by an associate named Eliot. Thurber explains all that transpired and then shows him the photograph which includes more than a background but also the demon featured in Pickman's latest work. The demons are real... and Pickman has just been drawing them as models.
