In The Beginning There Was Order
Kent) and Inza Nelson) return to the Tower of Fate after being brought back to life and returned their youth. They are now aware that they should become Doctor Fate together, as Nabu had instructed them. As to avoid being locked in the Tower forever, they create a mystical connection to Kent's old apartment in New York City, only to find it dilapidated and among a terrible area for living.
The activities of Doctor Fate attracted the attention of Shat-Ru, a disgruntled Lord of Order, who wants nothing but the destruction of Doctor Fate. Consumed by hate, Shat-Ru turns his attention to Earth and arrives to challenge Fate.
Kent and Inza notice the threat of the Lord of Order and attempt to become Doctor Fate, but only Inza gained the powers, leaving Kent behind. Inza confronted Shat-Ru and managed to stand her ground, despite her inexperience in magic. In the end, Inza manages to lock the Lord of Order inside the corpse of Kent Nelson, which was used by Nabu as a host body. The young Kent Nelson is impressed by Inza's performance as Doctor Fate, but he wonders what will they do with their newfound enemy.
