In Arms
In a restaurant, Batman) has run amok and asks for information about something called "Kristov". He learns that many out-of-towners and mafias are looking for it, leading him to an old warehouse. Batman and Robin) break in and take out the guards, and are met by Agent DePaola of the FBI. However, he cannot tell them about Kristov, only that other agencies are after it.
Batman leaves, having overheard a tip in Russian revealing the location to be in the Little Russia section of the city. When they arrive at a house, two parents beg Batman to take their baby, who turns out to be Kristov. Batman decides it's up to him to keep the child safe, and takes him along his nightly patrol. As Batman intimidates some muggers in an alley, the woman who was targeted corrects the way he is holding the baby, and the thugs join in. After, the lady purchases baby supplies for Batman, who changes and feeds Kristov with guidance from Alfred).
At the warehouse, Batman demands the truth from Agent DePaola, who explains that the baby was born to Ukrainian government research scientists. The insane general imprinted launch codes for all the missiles from the Soviet Union into the baby's DNA. However, Batman tells him it's the wrong baby, which a quick DNA test confirms.
Later in the Batcave, Batman explains that he lied and the agent took his blood instead because it was too dark. Nightwing) and Batgirl) are confounded as to why he would willingly give the FBI his blood, to which Batman responds that he would rather risk his identity if it meant Kristov could have a normal life with his parents.
