Toy Wonder
Matt McGinnis is playing with a young non-verbal child, Morgan Bickford, while Terry, Mary, and Morgan's father Sam Bickford watch on. Sam explains he used salvaged junk from his company to build Morgan's toy robot and a controller on his head for him to express himself. When returning home, Sam is arrested for stealing company property and Morgan is taken by protective services but becomes aggressive. The child protection agent blames Sam. The toy robot tries to get in the way in response to Morgan's emotions but the police break it. Terry and Bruce Wayne meet with Sam and post his bail and get him a lawyer promising to help get Morgan back. He reveals he only took scrap from the company's scrapyard but when valuable's went missing they blamed him since he had a criminal record. The toy robot scrambles back to the scrapyard and finds advanced technology that is starts to assimilate, growing in size and getting weapons. The robot rampages through Gotham and Batman tries to stop it from assimilating more technology but it escapes. Terry finds some of the scrapyard technology is from the GLM, and was never disposed of properly, meaning Sam built his robot from GLM parts. Terry goes to interrogate Willie Watt, assuming him to be responsible for the rampage. Willie admits to Terry that he felt the GLM reactivate and is happy to feel it awake, but since he is still monitored and equipped with suppressors while in Juvenile Detention he is not in control but he knows who is. Sam goes to the Timm Dini Foster Center for Boys to check in on Morgan but is stopped by the Child Protection agent and the police who are aggressive with him. The Toy Robot appears and attacks the police. Batman appears to rescue them and realizes that the toy robot is saying "Pa-Pa" and is responding to Morgan. He picks up Morgan and delivers him to Sam to calm the robot. The police take the chance to destroy the robot, despite Batman and Sam's pleas. Flashforward to the McGinnis apartment where it is revealed that Sam has been declared innocent thanks to the Wayne lawyers and has gotten his job back in his company. Terry and Mary encourage Sam to continue building toys and Sam says he will if it means he can communicate with his son. Morgan looks at his new toy and enthusiastically thinks "Papa!" | Quotation = | Speaker =
