In Blackest Day, Part Two

Kai-Ro has returned to the temple to find all the monks, including his masters, bound and captured by Black Light. Black Light antagonizes him into fighting since the Green Constructs pale in power to the Black Light Constructs, but the monks tell Kai-Ro he cannot use supernatural or alien powers in the temple. He tosses he ring out the door and Black Light accepts the challenge kicking Kai-Ro in the face.

At the Watchtower, Batman has realized Black Light was only trying to capture Green Lantern in their first conflict. Barda uses her Mother Box to scan the planet for the ring and bring them to its location, the temple. Batman finds the ring in the snow and he and Warhawk worry, but Barda has faith in Kai-Ro himself. Black Light comes flying out of the temple, tossed by Kai-Ro who claims he will not use alien power in the sacred temple. Batman points out they are outside now and returns the ring.

Kai-Ro uses the ring to fight and Black Light responds with his own knocking away Batman. He beats down Barda and Warhawk until Green Lantern and Batman strike. Green Lantern uses simple constructs to knock mounds of snow on him. He tells Barda to banish him and all the snow with her Mother Box. Black Light appears and corrupts the Mother Box, boom tubing Barda and Warhawk to an unknown location. Green Lantern uses rocks and snow to strike Black Light, believing him more effective against constructs. Green lantern is running out of power so Batman distracts him while Kai-Ro recharges.

Black Light ambushes Kai-Ro and seems to have his sights set on the Green Lantern Battery. Barda and Warhawk return through a Boom Tube with Aquagirl revealing they were sent back to the JLU Watchtower, he simply reversed the Mother Box. They stop him from taking the battery and he bursts in energy and flees. The JLU return to the watchtower.

Batman and Kai-Ro talk about the importance of worthiness and Batman confirms he wields the ring better than any lantern he has ever heard of. Batman also confirms the importance of self-doubt in being a hero. Kai-Ro thinks Batman would make an excellent teacher and goes to recharge his ring. Batman is analyzing the fight when he realizes something, he learns how Black Light gets his power.

Black Light appears behind Kai-Ro but is stopped by Batman. He reveals Black Light has no power on his own, which is the reason he was able to reset Barda's Mother Box but not control it, and why he had to fight Kai-Ro hand to hand when he threw his ring out of the temple, because the Black Light ring is a conduit to steal power and why he wanted Green Lantern to recharge. Kai-Ro blasts Black Light who is recharging. Batman says Kai-Ro must relinquish his power. He refuses and continues his attack. Batman apologizes and knocks Kai-Ro unconscious with a punch.

Warhawk is confused until Batman reveals Black Light is powerless without a lantern. Warhawk rips off Black Light's ring and knocks him out. Warhawk comments how important having a detective full time would be and re-invites Batman to join the JLU. Batman declines before he goes to apologize to Green Lantern. He offers to let Kai-Ro punch him to get even. Kai-Ro declines but Warhawk uses the chance and punches Batman, to Kai-Ro's secret satisfaction.
