The Gathering Storm

In the past, ten years after the fall of Camelot, Etrigan) battles a green dragon-like demon in a cave before incinerating it with hellfire. He is then telepathically congratulated by Merlin), who changes him into Jason Blood), claiming that he is needed elsewhere. A bewildered Blood frantically runs home. Meanwhile, his wife is giving birth to their son. Blood arrives too late, seeing that his wife has died giving birth as the midwife presents him with his newborn child.

In the present in Gotham City in Jason Blood's apartment, Blood explains his plan to be rid of Etrigan for good to Randu Singh), Anjeli Singh), and Sandra Kincaid). Blood draws a door on the floor and, using the hammer of Ashamlon, "knocks" on the door. The hammer strikes the ground and opens a doorway into the floor, and inside the group sees a stairway leading into a dark abyss. Randu warns Blood that something is not right, and no sooner as he spoken than black tentacles reach out of the doorway and drag Kincaid away into it.

Meanwhile, Detective Pruitt meets with Madame Xanadu).

Jason Blood descends the stairs, but then sees that the stairs going back up are endless. The doorway in the floor of Blood's apartment disappears, trapping him in this new dimension. Elsewhere, Kincaid wakes up on a stray piece of rock in the black void, seeing other rocks to walk along. She is suddenly attacked by a large blue monster and fires her gun at it, realizing that it's ineffective. Blood pursues Kincaid through this void simultaneously, encountering another large, grotesque monster. He attempts to use the sword that he brought with him, but he is violently attacked and nearly thrown into the void. He manages to stab the monster in the eye and kill it, but hundreds of spiders pour from the wound and engulf Blood.

Meanwhile, in Montreal, Joshua and Ruth Simmons continue their tour of miracles at a children's hospital, with Joshua healing a young girl named Molly.

In the void, Blood throws himself into the void in the hopes of killing the spiders attacking him, when he is caught by the blue monster that is attacking Kincaid. He finds that she has tamed the monster, as it has a taste for the bullets in her firearm. Suddenly, a large being bellows that Blood has passed his tests and earned his reward.

In Gotham, Detective Pruitt finishes his meeting with Madame Xanadu, who informs him that he is pure due to all of his evil being burned away by something. Once he leaves her shop, it vanishes.

Meanwhile, Blood requests that his reward for passing these tests be Etrigan's eternal imprisonment and that he is willing to pay any price. The being grants his wish, taking the first step of "restoring" his original form. He then returns through the doorway into his apartment with Kincaid in tow, but he suddenly advances in age by many years, explaining to Randu and Anjeli that this his true age now that he is no longer immortal due to being freed from Etrigan. This scene is witnessed from the void by the true culprits behind the day's events, Eclipso) and Spectre).
