Passageway
A man and his son are standing on a ridge overlooking a prehistoric jungle. The boy, not unfamiliar with time travel, reminds his father that they shouldn't touch anything. The man corrects him, stating that they need to make sure they don't leave anything behind because they don't want anyone to ever know they were there. Suddenly, Skeets) shows up and warns that 'it' is on its way to them. The father, none other than Booster Gold), tells his son to get his camera ready as a Tyrannosaurus Rex bursts into view. As the T-Rex gets a little too close for comfort, the travelers decide it is time to leave and disappear into the time stream.
In the 15th century, the boy, now a grown man by the name of Rip Hunter), is in the middle of an important mission. Unfortunately, while he is preoccupied thinking about his mission, he stumbles upon men native to the 15th century. Realizing instantly his mistake, he takes the men on and knocks them out. It is revealed that Rip, has recruited Booster Gold), Superman) and Green Lantern) for his mission . It is revealed that the men Rip encountered are shipwrecked pirates who are dying of disease and malnutrition. Both Superman and Green Lantern think they should assist in some way. Rip disagrees. He argues that, if they were to intervene, there is no telling what effects they could have on the timestream.
At the end of time, a man appearing to be Supernova has come looking for the temporal stronghold known as Vanishing Point, which is located in the last seconds before time collapses on itself and can survey the entire timeline of the universe. He is shocked to discover that Vanishing Point has been destroyed. Communicating with an unknown woman, he decides to return to the 21st century for answers.
In the 15th century, Rip ends the argument by pointing out that the shipwrecked men have, in a sense, been dead for 500 years. Aside from which, they have more important problems to worry about. He reminds them of their mission, finding Bruce Wayne).
Hunter recounts his recent discoveries made at the Vanishing Point while reviewing the historical record. During his investigation, Skeets had appeared, and Rip told him that he had found a bat sigil, like that worn by Batman, etched in several places in time before the dawn of civilization. Rip explained to Skeets that there was a time traveler bouncing through time. This was concerning because a time traveler can be like a virus in the human body and the timeline can react like the human immune system. In other words, time itself wants to repel the time traveler to dire effect. Continuing his investigation, Rip found a painting of man resembling Bruce Wayne, Mordecai Wayne. Rip viewed Mordecai directly and confirmed that Mordecai was identical to Bruce. Rip then viewed one of the instances when the bat sigil was created and discovered that it was Bruce who created it. More worrying, Rip Hunter found evidence that the scenario was seemingly being affected by the New Gods. Booster had then appeared with a biomechanical being called an Archivist. It was revealed that Rip could not keep track of the entire history of time himself, so he used the Archivists for that purpose. Rip decided that he and Booster must find Bruce Wayne. He told Booster that, to avoid them from interfering, they must recruit Bruce’s allies to aid them. After Rip recounts his investigation, the heroes establish that Bruce is not in this period, so they must return to the present via Rip Hunter's time platform.
In Rip Hunter's time lab in the present, Despero) and Per Degaton) of the Time Stealers have come for something. Their original location, Vanishing Point, is currently unreachable and they don't know why. However, upon arriving at the lab, they find technology from many eras - the 25th century, the 31st century, and millenia beyond that. They find Rip Hunter's time platform, and plan to destroy it, but they are stopped by Michelle Carter, aka Goldstar). The villains try to kill her, but she is saved by the returning Supernova. Outgunned, the Time Stealers retreat. Supernova departs as well, in the hopes of locating Rip Hunter.
In the 15th century, the Time Masters have come to the mountains, in the hopes of managing to communicate with Rip's lab in the future and drawing them forward. However, something goes wrong - and when the dust settles, Rip Hunter is alone, under a red sky, and facing the warrior known as Claw the Unconquered!

| Notes = * When Rip and the others encounter the shipwrecked men, they expressly state it is the 15th Century. However, they are searching for Bruce Wayne (who is travelling through time) and they are looking for him in near a shipwreck. This is seemingly the same shipwreck which occurred just before Bruce encountered Vandal Savage in Return of Bruce Wayne #3 (it is even placed in the same spot, on the rocks at the base of a cliff face). Return of Bruce Wayne #3 was expressly identified as taking place in 1718. Though Rip concedes that tracking Bruce is an inexact science, it would make little sense for them to be searching three hundred years too early and when European sailors were only just first traveling to the Americas. Instead, it seems they are searching the area of the shipwreck from the Return of Bruce Wayne #3 in the 18th Century. Thus, mention of the 15th Century may be a continuity error. However, this series and Return of Bruce Wayne were seemingly poorly coordinated and it is unclear when Rip and the others' actions here occur in relation to Return of Bruce Wayne. So, it may just be a coincidence that they are searching at the location of a nearly identical shipwreck that occured several hundred years before the shipwreck in Return of Bruce Wayne #3 and there is no connection between the shipwreck here and the one in its companion series. | Trivia = | Recommended = | Links =
