Reading this edition’s market

Compare the same cover, printing and grade before setting a bid. A raw guide or a higher-grade price does not establish a slab’s value. Include selling fees, shipping and the depth of completed-sale evidence when assessing an exit price.

The table includes 8 guide observations and 0 catalog references. These are reference values, not guaranteed sale proceeds.

"The Secret of Life, Part Two"

Hawk), Dove), and Deadman) discuss the messages and visions given to them by the Entity). Brand reveals that he saw visions of the others resurrected by the Entity, but it is revealed that he did not hear each message as evidenced by the fact that he does not know what Hawk was told. When Dove asks Hawk what his message was, he says only that he was told to protect her. Brand decides to seek help with the White Lantern Ring from Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)). He begins to teleport away, when Dawn touches him and is inadvertently pulled along with him.

Meanwhile, it is revealed that Miss Martian) has been miraculously healed by the White Energy that surrounded Martian Manhunter) and accompanied his message from the Entity. She tells him that she was attacked by a Green Martian. J’onn does not believe her until they meld minds and he sees first hand through Miss Martian’s memories that she is telling the truth. J’onn too faces the truth: he is not the last Green Martian.

Meanwhile, Hawkman) rejects the claims of the feline humanoids who believe him to be the prophesied hero destined to bring an end to Hawkworld. Despite this, he accompanies the humanoids' leader into their sacred caves. There, the leader tells him more about their world. Though they call it Hawkworld, it is not Thanagar, the birthplace of the second Hawkman). Instead it is an extra-dimensional world that is a bridge between Earth and Thanagar. The world is filled with humanoid species which are bipedal races similar to Earth animals, including the feline humanoids and lizard humanoids. Hundreds of thousands of years ago, humans found the portal to Hawkworld, and many made it their home. They peacefully coexisted with every race here for eons, except the avian humanoids known as the Manhawks. The trust between the humans and the Manhawks was always strained, but it was made worse when Nth Metal was discovered by the humans. The humans coveted it, especially its ability to grant flight. Among the humans, an ideal emerged and began to gain support. This ideal stated that the humans were meant to rule Hawkworld by birthright. Soon, the followers of the ideal, using fear and force, gained power over the other races and governed them by turning them against each other. Eventually a portal to Thanagar was discovered. The humans left Hawkworld for Thanagar. Their fate is unknown to the denizens of Hawkworld. Millennia would pass before one day, one day, another human appeared, from Earth, a female, who took complete control of the Manhawks and built and raised the Nth City into the clouds. Calling herself Queen Shrike), she has ruled for two thousand years. Carter, has no way of knowing how much of this story is true and how much is legend, but his reflection on that fact is soon interrupted by chanting from outside the sacred caves. When he emerges, he sees that large numbers of feline humanoids and a few lizard humanoids have come to see him. However, rather than worshippers, Hall sees an army that will help him save Hawkgirl).

Meanwhile in the Nth City, Hawkgirl breaks out of her cage and attacks Hath-Set). However, before she can do so, Queen Shrike makes her presence known and knocks Hawkgirl down. Queen Shrike then pulls off her mask to reveal that she is Hawkgirl’s mother. More specifically she is the mother of Hawkgirl’s original incarnation, Chay-Ara), Khea Taramka. Before she can react, Hath-Set knocks out Hawkgirl.

Later, on Earth, Martian Manhunter and Mis Martian join their powers to conduct a psychic search for the Green Martian. They cannot find, her, but find a dark psychic hole in Star City. Manhunter flies off to search for her there.
