"The End and The Beginning"
In the Antimatter Universe, Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond))/Jason Rusch) reaches Qward. They see a glow of White Energy and conclude that the source must be the White Lantern Power Battery, which is in the hands of Deathstorm). They head toward the light.
At the sources of light, it is revealed that Deathstorm’s master is the Anti-Monitor). Within Deathstorm, Martin Stein) tells Alvin Rusch) of the Anti-Monitor and that he feeds upon worlds. It is revealed that the Anti-Monitor has placed the White Lantern Power Battery in a machine of some kind. Soon, Martin realizes that the Anti-Monitor can create life with the Battery which he can then consume and, with such a power source, become unstoppable.
As the machine is activated, Firestorm arrives, secretly observing the scene. However, to the surprise of the Anti-Monitor, the Life Entity speaks through the Battery. It announces that it has taken the information it needed from the Anti-Monitor. Despite the power of the opposition, Firestorm decide that they must act. They emerge from hiding and attack. Deathstorm and his Black Lanterns counterattack. Jason instructs Ronnie to transform the Anti-Monitor’s helmet into hydrogen and light it on fire, which he does. The Anti-Montor is staggered, and Firestorm grabs the Battery. But the Anti-Monitor blasts Ronnie and Jason, separating them. Deathstorm taunts Ronnie calling him cowardly and inept without Martin Stein. So, as a challenge, Deathstorm releases Martin so he can merge with Ronnie, which will allowing Deathstorm to prove he is better than Ronnie and Martin even together as Firestorm. The Anti-Monitor interrupts demanding to know what the Life Entity took from him. To feed off Alvin’s fear as fuel for the coming battle, Deathstorm tells Alvin that he will kill Jason and prepares to turn Jason into salt. Ronnie moves between Deathstorm and Jason intending to sacrifice himself for Jason. However, when Deathstorm unleashes his power, Martin Stein jumps in front of Ronnie and is struck instead. Martin begins to turn to salt. Ronnie and Jason reform Firestorm and Ronnie attemps to reverse the effect but cannot. He then attempts to use the Battery begging the Life Entity to save Martin. The Entity does not respond. As Martin dies, he tells Ronnie that he made him a better man and that Jason and he will be a better Firestorm if they just accept each other. Martin then says that Ronnie was not *like * a son to him he *was * a son to him and dies, transformed into salt.
With this, Ronnie accepts Jason and turns to face Deathstorm, the Anti-Monitor, and the Black Lanterns. However, before they can attack, the Life Entity releases a massive blast of White Energy. As Deathstorm and his undead cohorts are consumed and destroyed, the Entity tells Ronnie that his mission is accomplished and his life is returned. With that, Firestorm is teleported to the Star City forest with the Battery. When they arrive, the Entity tells him that Alvin has been returned to Earth, but Martin is dead. Ronnie is furious that Martin has not been returned to life, but the Entity tells him that he has the information he needed and Ronnie has accepted Jason. That is all it needed; Martin is no longer necessary. Before Ronnie can respond, Boston Brand) appears and demands the Battery. The Entity tells Ronnie to give it to Boston, the future of Earth depends on it.
