Story synopsis

Years ago, a young girl named Nisa Contreras) watches as the governor of New York makes a speech in front of a neighborhood destroyed by an Avengers battle, and the governor promises to use money donated by Tony Stark to rebuild the neighborhood by a certain date. The buildings are not completed anywhere close to that time.

Years later, Nisa is a young reporter for the Daily Bugle and is at a rally for the same New York governor's reelection. She calls him out publicly for using funds dedicated to rebuilding her past neighborhood to finance his reelection campaign instead. Nisa is put on the map as a reporter after publishing the story.

In the present, Nisa is attending the United States presidentialdeates and a blonde man next to her begins striking up a conversation about the hypocrisy of politics. While conversing, Nisa notices other members in the room have press badges that look different than hers, and she shouts a warning just in time for certain "reporters" to all pull out guns and reveal they are Hydra agents in disguise. As everyone runs for cover, the man Nisa had been talking to earlier transforms his appearance and reveals he is Loki. Loki stops the Hydra agents, and as camera crews interview him afterward he comments on how all politicians are liars and don't have the audacity to be upfront about their lying as he does. Many people watching the interview online interpret Loki's comments that "if I were your President, I'd have the guts to lie right to your face. And you'd love it." as an actual bid from him to run for President, and they goad him on. Nisa is not pleased.

Over the coming days, supposed pollster call random individuals and ask whether they would vote Loki for President. Loki also appears on J.Jonah Jameson's television show, "The Fact Channel" where he is grilled by Jameson who also thinks Loki wants to run for President. Nisa Contreras calls in to the show and angrily reminds viewers that Loki was the one who was battling the Avengers years ago, causing her neighborhood to be leveled. Mid-conversation, Loki teleports from the show and into Nisa's apartment where she is calling from. He reveals that he is actually interested in running for President and invites her to an interview at his office the next day where she can write whatever she wants about him. Nisa reluctantly agrees.

The next day Nisa arrives at Loki's campaign headquarters and makes it past Loki's bodyguard sister, Angela. Nisa is greeted by Loki, who has transformed himself into a woman in hopes of making Nisa feel more comfortable. Loki and Nisa have their interview and Nisa writes a scathing article about Loki at the end and submits it to her editor for publishing as she goes to bed.

Nisa awakes the next morning to find that her article has been published, but that the headline has been changed to a more positive "Loki's Campaign: Something to get excited about." Nisa's phone is flooded with messages from people who only read the headline of her article but not the content, and who all think she endorses Loki. At that moment, Thor shows up at Nisa's door, demanding an explanation for the article.

| Solicit = Loki is many things -- god, trickster, brother, liar, son, villain, even hero. Now he wants to add one more thing to the list: President of the United States. That's right, the God of Lies has set his sights on becoming the ruler of the free world, but is this just another scheme? One thing's for certain -- with Loki's winning smile and silver tongue on the campaign trail, this election just got a lot more interesting...
