Modest Stein was an illustrator known for his work in newspapers, magazines and pulp publications. Early in life he was associated with radical political circles, including Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman, but later focused on art. Stein became a successful illustrator whose vivid covers and drawings appeared in widely read publications.
