Overview
Cairo was the capital of Egypt, located next to the Nile river. At its heart of the city is Tahrir Square and the vast Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, a trove of antiquities including the royal mummies and gilded artifacts. Nearby, Giza was the site of the iconic Pyramids of Giza and Great Sphinx, dating to the 26th century BC.
