===Overview=== The George Washington Bridge spans the Hudson River from Manhattan to New Jersey. ===20th Century=== During his rampage through New York City in the summer of 1940, the Sub-Mariner targeted the George Washington Bridge, seeing it as another man-made monument to destroy. He landed on the pedestrian walk and, with his mighty strength, tore down one of the massive upright support towers, causing it to crash. Before he could do more damage, he was confronted by the Human Torch. The Sub-Mariner hurled a steel girder at the Torch, who effortlessly melted it. The Torch then retaliated…
