The Justice League continues conducting global evacuations while Professor Haley and Red Tornado try to make sense of the blackout plaguing the Watchtower. Ted Kord detects a large portal opening in the main chamber and sees a person trying to get out. Once the portal closes, the Watchtower regains power and the mysterious person stands revealed. It is Air Wave, back from his own wacky adventure. He was fighting Shadow Lass to liberate the Vanishing Point, but when he tried to return to the 21st century, the Waverider ship was blocked by a temporal firewall and only Air Wave was able to slip through a tiny crack that led him back to the Watchtower. Ted assembles a new team to help with the situation at Oklahoma and Air Wave joins them. At Oklahoma, Kid Flash and his friends have been almost completely defeated by the supervillains empowered by Neron until they get reinforcements from Air Wave's team. With his fellow heroes covering him, Kid Flash attempts to smash the jar containing the souls of the people captured by Neron, but he is stopped by a vision of Neron, who says that if the souls are freed, they will be left stranded on an Earth dominated by Darkseid. Meanwhile, Mister Terrific's team continues its journey through the bowels of Hell. As they traverse a region of ice and snow, Tim Drake admits his insecurities at standing next to legendary heroes like Superman or Wonder Woman, especially now that he taken on the mantle of Batman in his universe. The team is attacked by a demonic beast and Superman sacrifices himself to destroy it and help his friends reach the next stop of their journey, a black sea. Gold Hawk hears a person in danger and tries to help them, but it is a trap. A demon emerges from the black waters and possesses Gold Hawk, who has no choice but to attack his friends. Doctor Fate casts a spell that vanquishes the demonic Hawk but Batman dies in the battle. Despite the losses, the heroes push forward and reach Neron's stronghold, the entrance of which is protected by demonic magic. Only Terrific is allowed passage while Owlwoman and Doctor Fate stay behind and are ambushed by demons. He reaches Neron's throne room and offers him a new deal: Neron will nullify the bargain he made with Earth's supervillain and Terrific will act as Neron's agent on Earth. Through Terrific, Neron can gain intelligence on everyone who might ever oppose him and no one would ever suspect Terrific of betraying them. Neron admits Terrific's offer to be tempting, but unfortunately, that position has already been filled. Suddenly, Terrific is hit from behind by Owlwoman.
