Batman has ambushed a group of Jokerz with many young people trying to join the gang in an initiation. He takes out several when he recognizes one that he identifies as July. In his surprise he is knocked down and many of the Jokerz run. Terry tells Bruce about his childhood best friend, Julio "July" Jimenez who once saved Terry's life when they were jumped by a gang. Bruce claims Batman cannot save July and it is up to Terry McGinnis. Batman uses his skills to track July and finds out he is a teenage father with a wife, two children, and a third on the way. Terry approaches July and has a talk about trying to stay on the right path, but July talks about doing whatever it takes to provide for his family. Batman starts to neglect his friends, family, and Dana in favor of tracking down the Jokerz. He is breaking up the Jokerz recruitment drive to find July. Batman reveals that the Jokerz have to go through four initiations, the Riddle of the Razor Riddle, The Garotte Giggle Gag, the Pistol Punchline, and the Catzkill Clown Coronary. Through his investigations he finds the site of the final initiation that all Jokerz will be at but is ambushed by exploding balloons. The Batmobile goes down and the suit is damaged. Batman is captured by a new Jokerz gang. In a warehouse tha Jokerz strip Batman of all his gadgets. Terry uses the last of the suits power to break a cuff and escape. He uses his stealth skills to take out Jokerz one by one until he finds July. He confronts July about his wife and kids and July realizes Batman is Terry. The Jokerz arrive and accuse July of being a rat and he fights back and knocks out the leader. July and Terry fight side by side and defeat the gang. Almost all of the Jokerz are arrested. Bruce informs Terry that turning against the Jokerz will allow Commissioner Gordon to put July and his family into the Witness Protection Program, but since the Jokerz have groups in nearly every city of every state he will need to be careful.
