After Azrael knocks out the guard at Harcourt's mansion, the rest of the security team attempt to take him down. However, aided by his flamethrower gauntlets, Azrael slays all of them including some hounds. Then he breaks into an illuminated greenhouse, only to find Mr. Harcourt murdered by Carleton LeHah disguised as Batman. LeHah tries to escape in a car. Azrael jumps on top of it but is knocked down by a branch, and the killer makes an easy escape. While Alfred Pennyworth tends to Azrael's head injuries, Nomoz berates Azrael for letting LeHah escape when checking on Harcourt. Alfred suggests that Jean-Paul was doing the decent thing since Harcourt was dying, although he shows no concern about the men killed by Azrael. After finding out there are three members of the order in South America and three in Hawaii, Jean-Paul and Alfred, along with Nomoz, decide to travel to LeHah's possible location: an oil refinery in Texas. Meanwhile, LeHah is holding Bruce Wayne captive in the Texas refinery. To appease his demon lord Biis over perceived disloyalty by dressing as Batman rather than Biis himself, LeHah tortures Bruce with hot steel heated by a blowtorch. But Bruce talks to him, confusing the man and buying some time. Alfred, Nomoz, and Azrael are outside, trying to find a way in. Alfred implores Azrael to show restraint once they make their way inside. Jean-Paul says that when he becomes Azrael he doesn’t think, he just acts. Alfred also asks Azrael his real name, but Jean-Paul struggles to remember it. Azrael uses his flaming blades to cut through the fence. They arrive in front of an underground garage, which is locked. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning strikes a nearby electrical tower, causing a power failure that causes the electronic lock on the door to fail and grants the trio an easy way into the building. Just before LeHah fires a bullet at Bruce, Azrael arrives and, after giving LeHah the same speech that Jean-Paul’s father had given him, throws a flaming knife at him, causing LeHah to fire repeatedly at some pipes at the roof. The pipes start to leak oil, which soon ignites and burns the whole refinery. Azrael saves Bruce by using the fireproof cape of Batman's costume and carrying him out of the explosion. LeHah is left inside and apparently burns to death. Nomoz reproaches Azrael for saving Bruce, saying that he has disgraced the name of the Avenging Angel. Jean-Paul answers that he is no angel, implying that he has gained control over the system. He remembers his name as Jean-Paul Valley and says that was his father’s name too.
