After a long week, Zatanna goes to her dressing room to get some rest, when a spear crashes through the window, scratching her throat. With her throat injured, Zatanna cannot cast spells, so she hides in a closet, which contains an underground passageway. Suddenly, a group of Witch Hunters enter the room, looking for Zatanna. Discovering the blood-stained spear, they deduce Zatanna is not very far. Throwing a smoke bomb in the closet, the Witch Hunters discover Zatanna is in the lower floor. As Zatanna reaches the stage, she is found by two girls who want her autograph. Casting a small explosion to scare them off, Zatanna puts her costume on. She then wraps a cloth around her neck to stop the bleeding. Zatanna remembers that her father put her on martial arts training when she was a child, in case she wasn't able to resort to magic during a fight. Dodging some bullets, Zatanna lands some hits on the Hunters, but when the Hunters resort to their guns and crossbows, Zatanna runs to the bathroom. She also gets shot in the leg. The Hunters corner her in the bathroom, explaining that they are part of a secret society dedicated to exterminate everything related to magic, considering magic to be a crime against God. Zatanna reveals that during the entire chase, she has been preparing an ointment to heal her vocal cords. With her throat healed, Zatanna defeats the Hunters, teleporting them to Salem in 1692. Believing the Hunters to be witches, the people of Salem burn them at the stake. As she watches from afar, Zatanna decides to leave them to sweat for a while before she returns them to the present.
