Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) tells Jade that the Guradians of the Universe have sent him to take care of the Starheart threat even if that means killing Green Lantern (Alan Scott). Obsidian intercedes and takes Jade’s hand. When he does so, darkness and green energy begin to swirl around the twins. At that moment, the green energy constructs disappear. However, when the swirl of drakness and green energy subsides, it is revealed that Jade and Obsidian have been formed into a gestalt being. The gestalt being attacks and the heroes counterattack. Elsewhere. Doctor Mid-Nite has liberated the injured Starman. They decide that to save Mikaal’s life they need to rejoin him with the Sonic Crystal. Pieter goes to find it, leaving Mikaal behind. Meanwhile, in the Starheart’s throne room Sebastian Faust continues to push the issue of why they are being restrained by Doctor Fate rather than the Starheart. His questioning leads the Starheart to reveal that the form of Alan Scott before them is not his true body, but rather another construct. While the discussion continues, Pieter has crept into the room unseen. He leaps to action, pulling the Helmet of Fate from Kent’s head. This frees Kent and the others. Before the Starheart can react, Flash snatches the Sonic Crystal away from him and Wildcat lands a blow which shatters the Alan Scott construct like glass. However, the heroes wonder as to true location of Alan Scott. Meanwhile on Earth, Alan Scott is locked into a battle with Supergirl and Power Girl. Alan senses the occurrences in the throne room and leaves. Elsewhere in the crystalline city, the heroes battle the gestalt being composed of Jade and Obsidian, who has summoned more green energy constructs. The battle is turning against them, but Doctor Fate appears, blasting the gestalt being with magical energy. It seems the heroes will defeat it, but Alan Scott appears and intercedes.

Green Lantern Kyle Rayner arrives outside the Starheart's headquarters on the moon just as Obsidian convinces Jade to unite with him. The Starheart's constructs disappear, but the gathered heroes now face a being with the combined powers of the siblings.
