The Generation X students prepare for mutant Mondo's arrival. Angelo (Skin) expresses his discomfort with the quietness of the school and shares that he misses the people from L.A. but not the place itself. Paige (Husk) talks about her own homesickness but believes it's worth the sacrifice to become an X-Man. Mondo arrives to a welcoming party. The bulky Samoan greets everyone enthusiastically. Monet asks Synch to check on Sean (Banshee), who is late. Synch asks Jubilee to do it. But Jubilee feels down due to Penance's condition. Finally, Monet herself heads to Sean's private cottage. Monet finds the place dark, the door open, and Sean in critical condition. She contacts Emma Frost, who is shocked that M possesses psychic abilities. Emma instructs her to bring him to the infirmary. When they connect Banshee to the medi-computer, Emma senses that he's still alive but they must retrieve Sean's astral form from the entity that took it. Thus, Emma enters Sean's mind to act as an anchor to keep him alive. Mondo and Jubilee guard Sean and Emma in the infirmary. Skin takes a jeep with Husk, Chamber, and Synch to locate Banshee's assailant. On the astral plan, Emma experiences Sean's memory from 20 years ago. She witnesses Sean discovering a mutant (Arkady Rossovich/ Omega Red) serial killer's victim in Paris and a confrontation with Inspector Magrita Deveraux. In another flashback, Emma observes Sean's encounter with Eric (future Magneto) Lehnsherr. Eric hints at the impending genetic war between mutants and humans and urges Sean to stop the serial killer by going to Cassidy Keep. Meanwhile, the Gen X students jeep closer to their target. In the woods, Synch senses their proximity to the attacker when Chamber is suddenly attacked by a tendril belonging to Russian super-villain Omega Red! He declares his intention to kill them, just as he did with their headmaster, Banshee. In a dark parlor in England, wealthy wheelchair bound young Gayle Edgerton discusses Mondo's X Academy arrival with her associate D.O.A. Edgerton blames Jonothon (Chamber) Starsmore for her lower body paralysis and plots revenge. Vampiric super-villain Emplate unexpectedly enters the parlor from an interdimensional portal and announces his intention to recapture Penance.
