Maxwell Loomis and Deadman are hired by Lenny Molton and his girlfriend Moira, fellow circus performers, to investigate the death of Lenny's brother Benny, a legless musician, after he fell ill and died in Cairo. While Deadman would rather track down the escapees from Nanda Parbat, he agrees that it is suspicious that Benny supposedly died of a deadly virus and, rather than be cremated there, he was sent home in a sealed coffin. Deadman and Max lie in wait at Benny's grave after his funeral. Two graverobbers, Al and Tom Verdugo, come and dig him up. Deadman possesses Tom and discovers Benny has prosthetic legs filled with money. He leaves Tom in time for Al to kill him and bury him in Benny's grave. They follow Al back to his apartment, where they frighten him into confessing that Frankie Serna hired them to dig up a package also hidden in Benny's prosthetics. Deadman possesses him and opens the package, which is a bomb, and it goes off.
