Brother Eye has already overtaken the computer systems of every network on the planet, promising to guide humanity to a better way. Meanwhile, at Terrifitech, Brother Eye's creators can't seem to find any way to shut it off, and are left with no choice but to find a way to escape the building. Blowing a hole through the wall, they find themselves in a hallway, facing a horde of corpses reanimated by Brother Eye's cyborg program. Fortunately, Tim Drake comes to their rescue, wearing the Batsuit that had once been worn by Terry McGinnis, until his untimely death. Despite Batman's disgust with that choice, he allows Tim to pull him and the others to relative safety on the roof. Once safe, The Atom explains that while the Time Band hasn't been recharged yet, he has thought of a way to do it, at least. He notes, though, that Batman won't let anyone else go back in time with it to stop Brother Eye. Annoyed, Tim challenges that Bruce never can just let someone else save the world. Coldly, Bruce responds that if Tim can tell him someone else who can succeed, he'll step aside. He is surprised when it is A.L.F.R.E.D. who answers. The one who jumps back in time must be Tim, because he is the only one of an appropriate weight to meet with the belt's calibration standard. Grumpily, Bruce concedes. Mister Terrific explains that they are banking on Firestorm to act as a battery for the belt, despite rumours that Firestorm was dead. Tim is surprised to learn that not only is Firestorm alive - Firestorm is his ex-girlfriend Madison, whom he thought had died. When she arrives, he recognizes her immediately, and grabs her in a hug. When she realizes who he is, she is happy to see him too. Unfortunately, the discovery that both of them are alive throws a wrench into Tim's plan to go back in time on behalf of the world. He asks a moment to explain it all to Madison, and after hearing it, she admits that she doesn't want to lose him. She wonders if he is planning to do this just to prove Batman wrong about him, and he admits that it had crossed his mind. But the fact is that Tim is a hero whether he thought he was or not - and that comes with responsibility. As Madison is hooked up to the belt, Michael warns Tim that he has only one chance to get this right. Taking Madison's hands, Tim promises that he will find her, no matter what happens, as A.L.F.R.E.D. sets the temporal coordinates. As the roof is overrun by the cyborgs, Tim is sent back in time to five years in the past. Tim finds himself on the Brother Eye satellite outside Earth's orbit, where the refugees from Earth 2 will soon detect its beacon and make the leap to this universe. Ideally, they will blow up the satellite now, and prevent that. A.L.F.R.E.D. warns, though, that the satellite's intelligence has sufficient capability to prevent that. He suggests instead that they try use Brother Eye's prime directive to their advantage. It was programmed to monitor, assist, and protect human kind. If they show Brother Eye the consequences of its actions, perhaps it will recognize itself as a threat to that directive. Tim calls out to Brother Eye, explaining that he is aware of the plan to send a beacon to the refugees. He explains that he has come from the future, and he knows that by guiding the Earth 2 refugees to Earth, the satellite will also allow Parademons through, who will kill millions. Brother Eye agrees not to send the beacon, and insists that it will further initiate a self-destruct sequence. Rather than let Tim blow up with it, the satellite attempts to send Tim to the future as it will be from this point onward. Soon, Tim is dropped onto the Earth, unaware of where - or when - exactly he is. When he looks around, though, he sees something that he cannot believe.
