In Los Angeles, Humberto Lopez recalls his being Reptil in the Avengers Academy, but feels conflicted as the majority of people seem to have forgotten about him. Given Humerto's grandfather Vic's worsening health, Vic moved in with Aunt Gloria and her kids, so Humberto also moved in to help the family care for him, where his cousin Julian shares an app on dinosaurs given his powers. Finding his parents pictures framed for Día de los Muertos that year, Humberto argues with Vic over their status as missing before Eva and Julian take Humberto out for fun to cool off and not get into a family fight. At Santee Alley, Julian buys fabrics for his and Eva's dresses for the Chicanx Pride festival, and discuss Humberto's sensitivity about his parents. Stopping for tacos, Humberto reflects on his anger issues and fears of powerlessness, the pep-talk ends when Santee Alley is attacked by a masked criminal seeking the Fossilized Amulet. Refusing the masked villain's demands, Humberto switches to Reptil to save a toddler from being crushed by debris. Involving himself, the masked villain closes in on Reptil, readying to rip out the amulet until Eva steps in and mysteriously blasts the masked villain with an energy pulse. Fainting, Eva is tended to by Julian while Humberto rages at the masked villain, until he entices Reptil with something so h'ed willingly hand over the amulet: the location of his parents.
