Conner Kent flies to Metropolis to pick up coffee, and finds Doctor Polaris attacking the city. He squares off against the villain, but Clark, Jon and Kara swoop in and quickly take care of it without him. Depressed, he returns to Smallville and tells Jonathan and Martha that he feels like he doesn't have a purpose in the post-Flashpoint reality with its expanded Superman Family. They advise him to find a place outside Smallville and Metropolis where he can do good, and he speeds off to the Fortress of Solitude. At the Fortress, he scans all the active distress alerts across the world, but finds that they're all being handled by other heroes. He asks Kelex to show him the galactic distress calls and chooses to respond to the strongest signal- a call for help from an uncharted planet under attack by Dominator warships. He takes a Zeta-beam bracelet from the Fortress, packs a bag and teleports to the planet. He destroys several of the ships and is attacked by three superpowered genetic experiments and a Dominator commanding them. He yells at the civilians to flee the city while he fights them off. The Dominator's henchmen seem to get the upper hand, but Conner reveals he was just stalling until the people managed to get out of the city and avoid them getting hurt in the crossfire. When he hears them all leave he unleashes his full power and quickly defeats the aliens. However, the Dominator has hundred more held in reserve and they all drop from the remaining ships to attack him. Conner is overpowered, but suddenly the experiments are slaughtered by unseen assailants. The Dominator flees and Conner is brought down by a speedster. The killers are revealed to be three aliens calling themselves the "Cosmoteers", who believe he is one of the experiments and say they will kill him too.
